The all-new G 500. | Walkaround
Dear G-Class Fans, we have something really special for you today. The G-Class will continue to be available in different engine variants. One of them, the all-new G 500, which we will have a closer look at today. My name is Selina. Please come and join me to experience five epic product highlights.
Here we have the G 500 in the new color sodalite blue metallic. Even with the update, the G stays the G – of course. And as you can easily see, it keeps its iconic characteristics. Nevertheless, we do have some new highlights for you. For example, we changed the number of louvres
In the radiator grille from three to four. In addition, we added a new bumper at the front and we do have new rim designs available in sizes from 18 to 20 inches. In terms of aerodynamics, we further improved the G-Class with measures like a new a-pillar and a lip over the windshield
That works like a little spoiler. These features, in combination with new isolation materials, also help us to optimize efficiency and to increase the driving comfort through less noise vibration. So now it’s, for example, easier in the car to communicate with your friends and family or on the phone.
Now we are going to show you the heart of our new G 500: an inline six-cylinder engine. This engine, as well as all our G-Class combustion engines, will be supported by 48-volt technology. This leads to significantly reduced consumption and increased performance.
One thing we are proud of is the elevation of comfort in the new G-Class. Starting with an equally simple yet great feature: We kept our iconic door handle and integrated KEYLESS-GO now. How cool is that? It allows opening the doors and starting the engine without using the key.
And when we enter the car, you’ll notice that we’ve added new comfort features such as temperature-controlled cupholders, wireless charging system for mobile devices. The whole infotainment system also got a big update with MBUX and touchscreen. And we’re also taking the sound experience in the G-Class to the next level:
The Burmester® 3D surround sound system comes with an additional, illuminated speaker in the headlining, more power and an ultimate sound experience through Dolby Atmos®. Moreover, we’ve improved and expanded the safety and assistance features. New on board are for example the route-based speed adaption
Or the Active Steering Assist – just to name a few. So, your trip in the G-Class is as comfortable and safe as possible. With the new G-Class, we’ve also expanded our MANUFAKTUR portfolio. There’s an extensive range of individualisation possibilities with more than one million combinations.
So our customers can configurate the G of their dreams – without any effect on production time. The MANUFAKTUR also finds its place inside this car: You may have already noticed the new colour option in here. This is our new leather two-tone combination MANUFAKTUR catalan beige/black.
But now, let’s get back to the DNA of the G-Class and let’s have a look at what our “Geländewagen” can do off-road. Coming to the most important question of the day: “Hey Mercedes.” “How can I help?” “Is the G-Class an SUV?” “No, the G-Class is a real off-road vehicle!”
That’s correct. And it will stick to its excellent off-road capabilities. For example, the G will keep its high ground clearance and its great climbing ability of up to 100 %. Of course, every conventionally powered G-Class comes with three differential locks and the LOW RANGE mode for great adventures off the road.
The G’s off-road performance has been further improved by new features. The new OFFROAD COCKPIT can be activated via the control unit and provides you useful information at a glance. For example, if we touch the camera icon in the front, we get the “transparent bonnet”.
This shows a virtual view of the road below the vehicle, which can be really helpful while driving on difficult terrain. As we’re slowly coming to an end, let’s jump into the rear of our car. Most of our entertainment and off-road functions can now also be experienced
