I’m really getting in to the idea of buying one of these (albeit not in the condition of this image) I think that they’re a beautiful car and not all that expensive either, but I’m wondering whether anyone has a real world experience of ownership, and whether they’ll just be a headache.

Most of it seems simple to maintain and work on, but my main concern to be honest is the gearing. I’ve never driven anything that needed double clutching and I suspect sourcing replacements would be a headache.

Can anyone offer any advice or tips?

  2. I’m in my 70s, and I have always loved the design of these cars. Would see them in movies and didn’t know they were Citroen. Would love to have one of these to cruise into some old vintage car shows.

Had a 51 for a few years here in the US. Simple to work on, was reliable, part availability was excellent (all coming from Europe). Definitely a city car, it was all wound up 50-55mph.

I do miss it, would buy another some day.
