1961 Frontenac prototype. Frontenac was a one-year Canada-exclusive variant of the Ford Falcon. In August 1960, this car was taken on a press tour. At the end, it was revealed that Frontenac had been shut down. This is the only photograph of the prototype known to exist.

That heavy-handed maple leaf grille makes it look like an Edsel.

  2. The model was discontinued, but I’m not sure if there was much of a “Frontenac” company to shut down. It was basically a compact for Mercury dealers in Canada to sell, just like they had rebadged Ford trucks to sell. Starting in 1961 the Comet filled that role like it’d been doing in the US from its’ launch in early calendar 1960.
