Wallbox Quasar 2 bidirectional charging demo

Wallbox has put out a demo of their Quasar 2 bidirectional charger showing off how it will work with a CCS-compliant vehicle. This will (finally) be a manufacturer-agnostic V2H and V2G solution for energy arbitrage and home backup.

I’ve been waiting years for this. Still no word on availability, pricing, and so on.

The good news to me is that this is the first time I’ve seen that Wallbox is working directly with Kia and their EV platform (can you tell I have an eGMP car?). But how can they have their head Business guy do this demo and not mention a word on a range of pricing, range of installation costs, or when and where this might actually be available to consumers????? Wake me up when that info becomes available.

  2. Companies have been advertising their V2G units as coming out soon for years.

Props to these guys for continuing to work on bidirectional but they keep getting caught on the wrong side of fast charging standard changes.

Quasar 1 was Chademo when everything was switching to CCS, now this one is CCS right when everything is switching to NACS. Maybe it will work with an adapter or maybe they’ll prototype Quasar 3 just in time for the industry to move on to something else.

Did they say this would be manufacturer agnostic? Or that it’ll only work with EV9?
