Remember when the F-150 Lightning was supposed to be $39k?

Shame. Pro is a great truck

What an ambiguous title. Tl;dr – Ford’s cheapest trim is no longer available for retail customers. This is not referring to *dropped* in the sense of a company dropping a surprise announcement.

Was clicking around the new [F-150 Lightning configurator](https://www.ford.com/finder/2024/f150-lightning?intcmp=vhpOverview-singleStat-vft) and noticed all the cheapest Pro models were removed. Saw this article that confirmed by suspicion. The cheapest 2024 F-150 Lightning is now $63,000. Very disappointing to be honest.

This might be a hot take but I don’t see any malice here – I wouldn’t be surprised if Ford is simply doing this due to increased demand for the Pro in the fleet market, where it is IMO more important.

Cars used to be a lot cheaper, once companies realized we would all be stupid enough to spend $70k+ on a vehicle that costs a fraction of that to build they knew the strategy. Cut out the cheap ones and worse makes them disposable. We are just about there but what will backfire is the Chinese will come in with their cheaper cars and ruin the US car market, as they have with every other area. Good short term move for profits, terrible move for one of the last industries we had here.

Still costs too much. I’d buy one if less than 50k. I like my trucks single cab with a bench seat.

They announced the $39,000 price way back in the olden days. Hell, at least they are shipping them to customers in reality. I still have yet to see a Chevy EV truck on the road, only in YouTube videos.

Can the 10kw inverter be added to any trim?

Ford’s BEV business lost 1.6 billion in Q4 2023 and there aren’t any signs of things changing.
No surprise they’re cutting their lest profitable trims especially while they’re selling in such low volume.
