Haven’t shared this project in a while so thought I’d drop these fenders I just finished up. Really happy with how they came out.
My inspiration for these was the JGTC Rx7s from the late 90’s / early 00’s, I really love that boxy look and will be moving in that sort of direction with this build, much more sharp, angular elements and aero.
The process was pretty straightforward, I mocked up the Rx7 bonnet and bumper where I wanted them, then boxed up the fenders and poured 2 part expanding polyurethane foam and carved it down to blend the two cars together. After shaping the foam I coated it with resin, then a layer of tape on the foam buck, followed by mould release wax and a couple coats of PVA release agent. Then threw down 1 layer of 225gsm chopped strand fiberglass matt, followed by 2 layers of 450gsm and finally a top layer of 30gsm surface veil for a nice smooth finish.
After curing the part was demoulded, trimmed and test fitted. Still got a couple changes to make before it gets a skim coat of filler and some high build primer but I’m really happy with the shape.
If anyone wants to watch the process, there’s a video up on my channel covering the whole thing in detail with no annoying talking to camera crap, just pure workshop asmr.
This is wildly cool! I admire your vision and skills, my friend!

I’m really loving this build and have been watching you on YT. I’ve subscribed so that’s bad ass. I’ve been digging it all. Keep up the good work. I really love the tail light, I mean all of it, but especially that taillight
