I guess that is one way to talk up your car that only has 149 miles of range.

As the article mentions, smaller and lighter of anything is more sustainable.

It’s not like people are waiting for affordable small EVs or anything…

I don’t care they push out small cars or big haulers, I just want the $55k compact size crossover SUV trend to stop. There are enough models in the segment. Do something creative!

30 years ago, there were articles about how North America could halve its fuel consumption if they had the same average car/engine size as Europe. There absolutely is a market for 400km range EVs, they don’t have to be mega SUVs, there is also a gigantic market for small EVs that have very modern batteries and charging, yet don’t weigh a ton and don’t require a 700km range.

My 2015 500e only has Lvl 2 charging, but the on-board system con handle up to 11kw… which no Lvl 2 supplies… still, 6.6kw fills it in 4hrs.

I just learnt that [Japan’s Kei cars](https://cdn.motor1.com/images/mgl/g4Jj9E/s1/motor1-numbers-kei-cars.webp) are all boxy because to qualify as a kei car (and pay lower taxes and other benefits) the car has to be a certain dimension and no more, and the boxy shape is to maximise the use of all the space available.

Incredible how many people simply refuse to approach the question “what if it’s actually not sustainable for everyone to use a 5000lb piece of machinery every time they need to go anywhere.”

Yes except all the small and lighter electric cars are like the same price as a Model Y or any other bigger car. Why get small car when can get big car for same price

The not yet in market MG Cyberstar looks promising. Probably won’t be cheap but damn!

My wife and I would love a small PHEV, preferably the size of her Honda Fit. I have a Prius Prime (the smallest and cheapest available PHEV, AFAIK) and love the flexibility. Run errands, commute, and drive 600 miles up the coast. I buy gas every three months.

So sad VW discontinued the e-UP. It was perfect.

That SUV and pickup truck loving Americans don’t want and won’t buy. Really, we should all be riding bicycles and using mass transit but that ain’t happening either.
