Ford GT90

In 1994, Ford approached their Jaguar counterparts and said, “Let’s make a performance car like no other”.

After months of design, Ford unveiled in January of 1995, the Ford GT90, a mid-rear engine, rear wheel drive supercar.

With a modified engine made from 2 Ford 4.6L, the 5.9L V12 had the same bore but a much smaller stroke, but added 4 FUCKING GARRETT T2 TURBOCHARGERS, the Ford GT90 boasted a powerful 720HP and 660lb-ft of torque, with a redline of 6300rpm, sending power through a 5 Speed manual transmission borrowed from the Jaguar XJ220, the GT90 accelerated from 0-60 in 3.1 Seconds, 0-100 in 6.2 seconds, and covered the quarter mile in 10.9 seconds at 140mph. Top speed was an estimated 255mph. (The engine was first installed into a 1993 Lincoln Town car as a test mule, just to see if it’d even run)

The exhaust would actually get so hot, they had to produce body panels out of ceramic, similar to how body panels were used out on the Space Shuttle*, just so it wouldn’t melt.

Unfortunately, Ford would give the car to Top Gear shortly before it planned to release it into production, and while Jeremy Clarkson had high hopes for the GT90 (due to the fact he didn’t fit in to the GT40) he later came out to say that the car lacked “spirit”, and drove like a “cartoon”.

Ford cancelled plans for production, and the 1 of 1 is currently sitting in the Hajek Motorsports Museum, in Ames Oklahoma. (CURRENTLY ON LOAN AT THE PETERSEN AUTOMOTIVE MUSEUM IN LA**)

I could have sworn this was an AI generated picture, but apparently not. It’s just ugly.
