It’s 2020 your car is totaled and the pandemic has begun, Your currently in a motel in a small town in Arizona what car would you buy to return to your family in Washington. Your budget is $

I think I would try to limp the cruze back home. If I had to choose a replacement, probably the 1990 skylark

  2. EquivalentFlat

Does this one have the Turbo or No?

  3. Maz2742

I mean, if I can get some duct tape to seal the coolant leak, I’ll try my luck and limp the Cruze home, but send my family in the college girl’s Jetta, since that looks like it’s the least beat-to-shit

Cutlass. Nice to drive to Washington

  5. Just4kicks86

Anything with a 3800 motor everytime. I’ll be able to pick up some wheels along the way.

    Olds… It’s always an Oldsmobile

The Cruze is the most mechanically likely to accomplish this specific job, and with $2000 remaining, you can drop in a new radiator and still have money for trip jerky.

Personally I would take the Mercury Bobcat in a heartbeat.

That straight six is gonna outlive them all

  9. Difficult-Worker62

I’ll take the old dodge pickup.

I’m going for the zip ties fosho

If that skylark is packing an iron duke I’ll have it till the body falls off.

The omega or the dodge pickup. Roadkill has taught me that old cars are not without their faults, but if you are the slightest bit handy, they can really, really *endure*.

  13. Wobbly5ausage

That one actually looks like a Buick Lucerne

Regardless if it’s a skylark or Lucerne, as long as it has the 3800 and not the north star I would definitely go with that one

  14. The Cruze was already leaking coolant before the crash, fwiw.

Pop hood of the first couple whichever had tge 3800 V6 – thats the one… those things are durable and would last the trip!

I’m taking the mercury bobcat, you don’t see too many of those on the road

putting aside the personal bias of owning a 1st gen cruze and painfully having to deal with the cooling issues (I assume I have no experience in this situation) I would still take the cruze, as with 2000 you can easily replace the rad and get a new headlight housing plus labor, and you can still get gas, as while they suck reliability wise, they SIP gas.

Probably either the Skylark or Sunfire

Just repair the Cruze, but id buy the omega simply as it’s a complete steal, plus parts are still widely available in the back shelves of parts stores considering it’s the same as a nova
