The best way to think about the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug In Hybrid is that this is an EV with a different kind of battery: a 2.4L engine and generator. Why? Because most of the time the engines are the ones moving the vehicle across the road. Only under limited circumstances can the engine directly drive the wheels. The result is a dual-motor EV for the first 38 miles and a dual-motor EV with an onboard generator for the next few hundred.
