Plugin hybrids first appeared as transitional vehicles, that would combine the best features of both worlds: unlimited range of internal combustion and efficiency of battery power. However, fusing two types of propulsion resulted in rather expensive cars, that priced out the majority of buyers. Despite this mixed success of P-H-EVs, we still believe in the viability of this technology and would argue that the cheapest models can be called “remotely affordable”.
