I got this car a few months ago and I got it running, although poorly. A few days ago I syphoned the gas out and it was very old (looks almost like cranberry juice) and I put in about four gallons of fresh gas. I started it up and it was running better, but ever since then its ben getting worse and worse.
Now it won’t start at all. Spraying in starter fluid helps but then it quickly dies. So I took the air filter off and pumped the throttle while looking down the carb barrow, and now there’s no gas squirting into it!
What would be your first suspect? Do you think it could just be a clogged fuel filter, or do I also need to check the fuel pump?
BTW there’s a new fuel filter, fuel pump, rubber fuel lines, new carb, etc. Engine is a Ford 170ci inline six, car is a 1962 Mercury Comet.
