World’s First Immersion Cooled Electric Motorcycle Battery | Warwick Moto

The student-led team at the University of Warwick known as Warwick Moto, reveal the world’s first immersion cooled electric motorcycle battery!

Built on a high-performance Norton Motorcycles chassis, “Frontier” is a first for the electric motorcycle industry as this superbike uses liquid immersion cooling for a newly designed compact battery pack. Immersing the cells in MIVOLT Dielectric Cooling Fluid allows for larger short-term power peaks as the cell temperatures are better managed, which also improves the cells working lifespan.

Putting our ideas into practice would not have been possible without the support of WMG, WMG Centre High Value Manufacturing Catapult, & Norton Motorcycles. We would also like to thank all our current industrial partners and supporters who have enabled us to come this far:

Michelin Motorcycle PLC, MIVOLT by M&I Materials, PWR Advanced Cooling Technology, DYMAG Performance Wheels, Laserlines, Wraptastic, Rock West Composites, Xometry, Renthal, Pro-Bolt, embed, R&G Racing, R&G Gleam, HEL, and RS Components.

We will be taking Frontier to track again soon with our rider Tom Weeden aboard!

We would also like to thank Rishi Bhugobaun ( for animating this video to help us convey our work.
