There are two ways to charge your Kuga Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) at home. Here’s a brief overview:

Our recommended way to charge is using the professionally installed Ford WallBox (or other compatible charging point.) This delivers the fastest possible charging at home.
Or, if you can’t use a Wallbox in your home, you can charge by connecting directly to a domestic socket. Using the Convenience Cable that comes as standard with the vehicle
Let’s look at how to use these options in more detail.

HOW TO CHARGE WITH A WALLBOX
A professionally installed charging point, like the Ford Wallbox, gives you faster charging for your Plug-In Hybrid vehicle. It comes with a built-in charging cable attached, with a convenient holder for the handle. (If you want to use a WallBox without a built-in cable, you’ll need a Ford Accessory cable in order to charge.)

To charge, just remove the handle from its holder and unwind the cable completely before plugging in. A home charging point is capable of charging from empty to full in around three and a half hours.

HOW TO CHARGE WITH A CONVENIENCE CHARGING CABLE
The Convenience charging cable comes as standard with your Kuga Plug-in Hybrid, and can be for regular use where a dedicated Wallbox isn’t available. It’s a simple solution with no additional installation needed, but charge times are slower than with a Wallbox, achieving a full charge from empty in around five to six hours.
Plug the Convenience charging cable directly into a domestic socket in your home. You’ll see a steady green power light appear on the transformer. Do not use an extension cable or adapter to charge your PHEV with the Convenience cable.

PLUGGING IN TO YOUR KUGA PLUG-IN HYBRID
Whether you use a Wallbox or a Convenience charging cable, the same, secure process of plugging in to the Kuga PHEV applies.
First, ensure the vehicle is parked and unlocked. Then gently push the charge port cover to open it.
The charging cable will lock into place, and it can only be removed when the vehicle is unlocked and the key is present – so you can be confident that your car and your cable are secure.
The charge level is clearly shown on by the charge indicator light. When plugged in, the lights turn blue and pulse through the five segments corresponding to the level of charge (20, 40, 60, 80 and 100%), like battery bars on a smartphone.
When charging is complete, ensure the key is present and use the unlock button to release the cable.

CHARGING FEATURES IN THE FORDPASS APP
With FordPass connected to your Hybrid vehicle, you can monitor the charging status remotely. So whether you’re sat on the sofa, making a coffee or out for a walk, you’ll know when it’s charged and ready. You can even schedule charging ahead of time, by letting the app know when you’d like to leave. So your Kuga PHEV is ready and waiting for you, and not the other way around.
