VW CEO: ID2 will be the Ultimate Game Changer in Electric Vehicles

Imagine a future VW Rabbit. VW is transporting us back to the future, but we don’t have to go 88 mph. VW ID2 is an affordable electric automobile. In 2025, it will cost $27,000. VW’s proposal for inexpensive electric cars has kept us on the edge of our Recaro seats with popcorn for years. The ID2, a supermini all-electric car, will compete with the Peugeot E28 and Vauxhall Corsa Electric after the ID Life failed. VW’s electric journey has been bumpy. It follows Fast and Furious. The ID3 started well, but a poor design and complex software issues doomed it. The ID4 and ID5 followed, trying to climb the EV ladder but failing. Their competition was priced similarly, making them tougher to beat. The great ID Buzz arrived. VW also unveiled a revised ID3 to smooth out early hiccups and transform how customers view ID-badged electric cars. ID2 has arrived.

Let’s see if the ID2 lives up to the anticipation as we ride toward the electric future. Could this vehicle win VW the battle to develop an inexpensive electric car? Will it join the electric race? Let’s see.
