Charging your Ford Kuga Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) away from home is easy. You can use your advanced Ford SYNC 3 navigation to find nearby charging points. The system can suggest, and then give directions to, convenient public charging stations around your current location, along your planned route, or near to your desired destination.
Charging stations at your workplace or in public work similarly to your home charging points. You can use your Kuga’s supplied charging cable if the public charge point does not have one. And connect just as you would at home.
Plug your hybrid car into the charging station first, using the female connector end of the charging cable. Then swipe your NewMotion RFID charge card and follow any onscreen instructions at the station.
Next, plug the male end of the charging cable into your Kuga PHEV charging port, and the vehicle will begin charging. Your Kuga will remain secure throughout charging. The cable locks into place and can only be removed again when the vehicle is unlocked, and your key is present.
A charge indication light around the charging port displays the current charge level. When plugged-in, lights turn blue and will pulse through five individual segments, according to the level of charge.
You can also check your current your Kuga’s charge status, and monitor recharging remotely through the FordPass app. A full charge from empty will take approximately 3.5 hours. Use the unlock button to release the cable once charging is complete. You will need to have your vehicle key present to unlock. Then follow any payment instructions at the charging station.
