Citroën x The Big Issue Group – Driving Change For Good – Hattie

I tried to get out onto the front line as much as possible for me that’s where the change happens I am still quite new to the big issue I’ve only been here for around six months I used to speak to vendors before I joined so I kind of knew how it worked no matter what your background is it’s Unique in that it will give you a legitimate way to earn a living wherever you are so I do get to get out quite a bit and

Travel across cities Countryside little towns kind of like a tour of the Southwest each day initially I was nervous about driving an electric vehicle but the balingo is really really easy to drive and to maneuver around narrow streets it’s so small and agile without it I wouldn’t be able to meet our vendors

Because that’s what we’re doing we’re here to support them Too bad not too bad it’s been a good week to be fair yeah yeah I got the tips in um people are actually quite nice especially up there where people are all right when I first started out selling this this mag I was literally living do you

Remember I was living in a car park where the hotel stored furniture and I mean don’t get me wrong they’re always worse places I have lived in worse weirdly I’ve lived in worse squats you know I mean the squats are the worst but um yeah no now I’m in a little social

Housing place and you know Tony’s got a shared garden and everything which is really nice do you think the big issues helped you on that Journey so much so much um when Tony was having loads of problems with the rent and everything and with the council you guys pitched in and out

Um during lockdown when we were absolutely you know against the wall you guys were sending the the shopping vouchers and stuff that was insane but just day to day being able to manage the finances and everything when I first started I was like all nervous and new

But I think it’s I of the regular vendors I can only think of Jeff who’s been here really much longer than me and uh yeah institution yeah I mean most for you oh yeah Jack for my job interview for this job because I I bought the big issue off you

Several times yeah no I remember that yeah no I’d completely forgotten that but yeah you used to come up with a team of people and everyone yeah yeah yeah yeah never in a way yeah yeah I brought you 10 magazines good enough yeah no that’s all I needed last week I’ve had

Like I said I’ve got a couple of tips yesterday so these and I went off to work Sunday we like that all right good news all right cool cool crab I will see you next week cool cool see you next week I’ll always see you on Monday hope

Your day keeps been good yeah cheers appreciate it being on the front line I see just how much the big issue supports the most marginalized and vulnerable in our society on a busy day it can be quite difficult so for me when I’m not just running around I really love to draw And to take in the present I think for that I am quite fortunate with where I live where there are just so many beautiful places to draw and take inspiration from so it’s really nice for me to know that when I’m at work and when I’m driving around I’m not polluting these places I love
