Charge Around the Globe: Lexie Meets the Team Behind Electric Ford Explorer
In preparation for my trip around the world, I wanted to meet the people who designed the car that is going to be my home for a while. It was incredible to learn more about their work and the Explorer itself.
It was a great opportunity to bring the Explorer and make it electric, right? So it automatically gives you an opportunity to do something unique. To build something like this is obviously really expensive and timely. And since this is all based on the data,
The data we can put in the computer and get the VR glasses on and check it. I’ve never done that before. All right. Okay, cool. Let’s try it out. That’s crazy. So cool, guys. It’s a very different way of travelling somehow. Yeah, it definitely feels like it in a way. Oh. Whoa.
Wow. I can definitely see how this is really helpful for your process. It’s crazy how much all of this technology that’s come out just in the past few years must have changed your guys’s workflow so significantly. Well, it increases speed. It’s just a matter of how fast we can have our ideas flowing.
Wow. They were showing me the centre console and how deep it is. Like massive. You can fit basically all of the gear you could need to have in the front of the car, especially if you’re spending a long time in
The car having that big space where you can kind of just drop everything. It’s going to be amazing. When the screen is down and you leave the car, it’s actually locked for the mechanism is very massive. Nice. You have also wireless phone charging as well.
And Apple, CarPlay, Android Auto is also wireless. So just slide in there and you’re good to go. Would you guys build something like a rack for the top? Yes. That’s almost the most helpful for when I’m camping. And if I’m even going to be sleeping inside of the car,
Then having a lock box on the top, that can be really helpful. Well, it’s great to get this feedback because we can also add more accessories that will fit that vehicle and also what you describe adventurous lifestyle. It must be really a special type of satisfying though,
When you work on a project for this long and now you can just see it sitting in real life. Correct. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. That’s so fun. You guys have have the dream job. I’m sure there’s so many, like, little kids out there that are dreaming of having your job someday.
Well, we were also dreaming of having that job. Yeah. That’s so fun. Well, thank you for giving me such a good overview. It was a really special moment for me to meet the team, and I can’t wait to drive the electric Explorer they designed around the world. Stay tuned for the adventure.
