CARFAX Test Drive: 2024 Dodge Hornet Hybrid

Welcome back to Carfax test drive I’m Carter McLoud managing editor of Carfax and today we have the 2024 Dodge Hornet the 2024 Dodge Hornet costs about $31,000 but this model the new plug-in hybrid is about 52 now that sounds like a lot of money for a Dodge but it’s actually made in Italy we’re also going to see some premium Features like all plug-in hybrids You’ got two ways to fill up got electric on this side and gas on this side the seat is very comfortable it’s nicely bolstered which fits in with the sporty image um it’s a little snug right now I have it set for someone behind me

Because uh we went out to lunch here at Carfax and um that’s putting my knees a little close to the center console here um when I put it back I’m a little more comfortable but then the person behind me uh loses a lot of like R This is a great car to drive um that’s one reason you might uh choose this over say uh Honda CRV which is going to be cheaper and bigger um this comes with a big engine right out of the box uh 268 horsepower and the uh plugin hyrid

Version has even more 288 so there are a few pieces that are a little loose or squeaky like this button there is a lot that they packed into this car it’s actually for 31 given all the equipment you get it’s a pretty good price so um I can forgive a few loose panels These screens also contribute to the higher starting price of the Hornet um Dodge likes to point out that this is the largest touchcreen uh you can get as a standard feature on a small SUV uh it’s a very nice system the UK connect 5 infotainment system it’s got Android

Auto which you can see we have ways up here and uh SP Spotify at the bottom you also have this all digital gauge display um which is a pretty unusual feature to have standard in a small SUV in or out of sport mode this is a really fun car to drive that’s another part of the piece to that $31,000 starting price puzzle Rav 4 the CRV these are going to be bigger less expensive cars but they’re not going to be as fun to drive

They’re not going to be as powerful so I think the customer of this car is someone who doesn’t mind um spending in a little more uh up top based on Carfax reliability research we’ve seen that um Alpha Romeo and this car is based on the Alfa Romeo tanali it’s built in Italy uh

Alfa Romeo has a bit more expensive maintenance than like a a Rav 4 or a CRV um so somebody who doesn’t mind spending a little more up front and a little more on um running costs will get back a very fun Driving Experience more fun than

You’ll be able to get in any of your sort of standard Mass Market um compact SUVs

Carter McLeod (CARFAX Managing Editor) reviews the 2024 Dodge Hornet Hybrid! Slightly more expensive than its peers in the field, this car is drop dead gorgeous, and has a killer sport mode. Drop your questions in the comments!
