Have Certain Ebike Companies Stalled In Innovation?
It this is Russ it’s time for you to check your batteries yeah just kind of give you a heads up you know if you drop your battery powers to 70% couldn’t Hur to check to see if it’s still sitting at 70% or not okay now here’s what I
Typically would do I will turn the back turn the bike on okay it may say 70% and then just leave it on for a while you know don’t ride it do you could you could do this you could lift the the rear tire you know some people tilt
Their bike towards the side where the um the the kickstand is kind of lift up that rear tire and then run the throttle for a little bit and see what the uh see what the percentage is that okay you may find it it’ll drop so uh if it’s dropped
A little bit yeah give it a little charge up yeah it doesn’t hurt to to give it a little little bit of a charge you don’t have to charge the whole thing because you still want to keep it under the 100% give a little bit of charge
Kind of perk it up a little bit so doesn’t hurt to do that if you haven’t done it in a little bit I mean a lot of us probably you know took care of our our our uh our batteries just before we hung it up for the winter and so if it’s
Been a month or so yeah get check it out yeah and then uh give it a little charge up and then stop at that point all right that’s that’s your uh that’s your maintenance update for the day so uh today what is today that you guys will
See the this this will be yeah this should be Thursday for you guys so anyway uh what else is up well you know I was thinking about I was thinking about uh the ebike um situation for the world at this point I’ve I’ve noticed that um more companies have come out
Again than last year I don’t know what the thing is it’s like all these companies come out of the Woodworks they just kind of they just kind of Sprout out of someplace yeah so um we’ll see we’ll see new bike companies coming out now what about the existing bike companies how are they
Doing well you know some of the companies kind of surprised me that they didn’t uh do as well that um in my opinion okay this is just personal opinion it has nothing to do with the facts of the matter because you I don’t have any
Facts but it kind of seemed to me that uh companies were getting a little more conservative of how they deal with their ebikes because um as you know like in New York U you have to get UL batteries in order to sell in New York I think
It’s New York City I’m not sure if all of New York but that put a that put a damper on some of the companies you know some of them don’t have the U approvals they can’t sell into there and I wonder if that’s going to be what’s going to
Happen uh going forward so but uh one company comes to mine more so than any and that would be rad power bikes okay now the whole thing with rad power bikes it was the very first brand that I had purchased I actually bought that bike
Right I bought that rad Rover 5 that was my very first ebike and at the time that I bought it rad was like on top of the world I mean they were like the ebik company and so uh shortly after I bought it you know we started seeing Oh they’ve got rad power
Bike stores coming up well they they’ve closed a couple of those stores now okay uh and then they I don’t I know they got some huge loan or something like that and then they were hiring a lot of people and then now they started laying off all these people and everything so
It kind of tells me that uh their business didn’t go as well as they anticipated it would be going all right then I look at some of the discounts that were happening like the you know they came out with their new trike last year and um I don’t know what the price
Was that what was that thing like $2500 or something like that so and then and then toward towards the end of the year you know it was dropped down to like $1,000 off it’s like 1,500 just because there’s competition I mean you had uh electric had their trike
Out and it was in that general price class so to sell against it they dropped at like a th000 bucks you know and then and then uh after the Christmas time I was looking at it was still at $1,000 off so I was thinking either this thing
Is not selling or their company’s a major issue going on you know so I still have credits for that you know people have bought rad power bikes and uh you know they they they got the uh the discount code on my on all my videos it
Has it on the list plus you could always go to Russ’s right. blogspot.com site or you just go to Russ’s right.com okay it’ll it’ll have a redirect there you click on it it’ll redirect you to Russ’s right. blogspot.com and and I have a list of you know all the discounts that are
Available to you you know for the the manufacturers that I that I’ve reviewed bikes for but also the Amazon affiliate links are all listed there so so anyway because people have used the rad discount which saves them $50 and then rad gives me $50 as well for referring
You that way uh I’ve built up a certain amount of money and I have enough for a couple of bikes if I wanted to I I’ve been holding off and using that discount to buy bikes because I’m like is there a new bike or anything new technology coming out I’d rather buy one
Of those I can play with it more rather than just buying an existing bike they’ve had forever i’ really you know Innovation didn’t seem to be the big thing for rad in my opinion in the recent year last year I mean so I keep wondering where’s their future going you
Know there’s more and more bikes in the marketplace Place coming in what’s happening to rad because of that you know put your comments below let me know what you think now I’m not saying that rad is gone down or anything like that I don’t want to start any type of rumors
Or anything like that I’m just saying from my observations you know when when you you discount that heavily on a product that you just came out with that year I mean $1,000 is pretty hefty you either overprice that product or you can’t get rid of the product that’s what
I keep thinking it’s one of the two things I keep thinking of and so and then I look at the the current bikes you know the rad Rover 6 came out to replace my bike and nothing really uh was available to overdo that one and that was out for what two years
Something like that so they they’ve got to have something coming out so maybe they’ll make an announcement soon maybe it’s already announced by the time this video comes out I have no idea but uh they’ve got to do something because they’re falling behind is what I’m saying now even the existing B bike
Companies that I’ve done reviews for other bikes have now come out that you know are either faster or have bigger batteries or whatever so industry is CH kind of changing a little bit is what I see for this year so I keep thinking what’s the new stuff that uh you know
Some of the existing companies will do like magic cyle or himiway or some of the other brandway that we have uh what are they going to come up with you know what is it going to be faster bikes or and this this whole thing with the
Faster we’ll we’ll do this on a on maybe the next video we talk about but um things are changing is what I’m saying in the ebike industry so companies either have to roll with that or they they uh they stay with what they have and then they get taken over by
Other companies so let me know in the comments below what you think is happening for this year where where do you see the industry going do you see them going towards uh speed are they going towards um um distance what what are they going for
What do you think okay I mean we’re all guessing at this point until it actually happens but you have to kind of really wonder based on you know things that you’ve seen from sales going on and the like what are they really doing so so anyway uh other things about this whole
Situation with the ebike um do you think the ebike industry is is actually um slowing down or do you think it’s growing that that’s a question that uh I think we actually really have to ask because um I’ve seen and read some things where they think that the ebike
Industry is not pulling in what they thought they were going to be pulling in all right I mean there was a time when I first got into ebikes it was all the rage but that was usually I think it was right after the pandemic was SL slowing
Down to the point where people were able to go back out and they were saying it was hard to get bikes remember that remember that time H it’s like a couple years ago now right um where you couldn’t even get a bike even non-electric bikes you couldn’t get a
Bike cuz everyone wanted one right remember that time and then when ebikes started to come in and and everyone’s talking about ebikes everyone wanted to get an ebike and then you had to wait for delivery remember that okay do you think we’re still in that kind of phase
Where it’s that popular or you think it’s slowed down hopefully it hasn’t slowed down but again um selfishly I’ve said this before in the past selfishly I prefer to ride with nobody else on the road I want that whole Road for myself hold on still drinking this stuff uh yeah I
Want the whole road to myself yeah I mean uh it’s not not like it’s really so bad in my area but okay if you if you Rod bike paths if there’s a lot of bikes on a bike path then yeah that becomes an issue for for me I I would have an issue
With that I don’t like to ride in a pack of people like that i’ I’d rather have it open this is why I ride when I ride okay I usually ride when everyone else is working because that way I know that I have the path more available to me my
Preference as as you know is not riding bike paths though I’ve said this many times I prefer to ride on the street because first off I can go a little bit faster and secondly I don’t get I get less comment from people yeah CU as you
Might notice um I get quite a bit of comments now I am on the bike a lot in a year okay so the chances of a comment happening to me is going to be greater than the comment happening to you simply because I’m out there more okay and uh
Some of the bikes that I ride are kind of uh kind of big yeah so I I’ve always wondered you know um towards the end of last year I had the enu x24 given to me that’s kind of an aggressive looking bike if you look at
It it’s got these two big springs in the back for the suspension you got a suspension thing in the middle and and then the front fork is kind of big and motorcycle looking right doesn’t have any fenders on it um yeah it’s kind of aggressive looking
Bike and a bike like that is going to gather either people looking at it or they’re going to have comments about it right I tell you if I was riding something like the himiway Rambler which is the mid drive bike that I have uh or
If I was riding like the the veletri um T1 that looks just like a regular bike you you would never even know that an ebike all right cuz it looks like a regular 10speed the old 10 speeds remember that kind of looks like that or like the magic cycle commuter bike okay
Nobody’s going to say anything because they they can’t see the battery they can’t see anything on it okay there there’s a very small display screen but they have to be looking for that if you’re riding past them quickly they’re never going to see that you’re not going
To get a comment all right but you’re Drive you’re riding something like the um like U uh the enway x24 or even even the magic cycle deers right people say things right so I I prefer to ride on the street so the best you usually get when you’re riding on
The street is they’ll call you a cheater that’s not so bad to take anymore but when they outright you know chastise you while you’re on a bike path it’s not as much fun so anyway let me know what you think what the comments are for that so uh anyway think about
Think about the whole thing with the rad thing think about what um what the future is going to be holding for these companies um do they need to make those changes or continue in the path that they are and whether you think um the bike industry is moving forward or
