2024 Mercedes GLE.. Big Improvement & Plug-in Hybrid?
The 2024 mercedesbenz GLE we have a subtle refresh here for the 2024 model year and I’m very curious to hear your thoughts in the comment section below I’m personally really disappointed with what they did with the front headlights I feel like the previous design was much better and exuded a far more prestigious
Persona but it is what it is the grill the front bumper and even the wheels they all got updated with the subtle refresh but I am pleased to say regarding the interior and the infotainment it’s the same 12.3 in display so they did not put that massive tablet inside of this vehicle like
They’ve done with their eqs and their S-Class products we still have some physical buttons and switches in this interior it’s a little bit more traditional so although they did update the infotainment it’s not the ridiculous tablet so I’m glad about that it’s still 12.3 in with Wireless Apple carplay and
Wireless Android auto as well as over-the-air updates and Mercedes is claiming that this new infotainment is fresher and more intelligent of course it is but the big update is going to be the GLE 450e plug-in hybrid which is powered by a 2 L Turbo 4cylinder with a
23.3 KW battery pack puts out 381 horsepower 479 lb feet at torque and it can go 48 M on pure electric range that’s awesome because the new BMW x550e also came out and that does about 40 m of range which is still good but this is obviously better but the BMW is
Going to be offering more performance and will do 0 to 16 about a whole second faster than this GLE 450e which I’m sure most Shoppers looking for this won’t really care and regarding the rest of the GLE well you have the regular SUV and you have the coupe which is that
More stylish profile that they have where they sacrifice some of that rear headro to give it a sportier look quote unquote the GLE coups it’s only available as a AMG type vehicle so we have the GLE 53 and the GLE 63s those are your two Coupe options the 53 is a
About $91,000 and the GLE 63 Coupe is about $130,000 including destination now back to the SUV which is the model most people are probably going to purchase those are also available as AMG variants we have the GLE 53 which is about 88,000 and the GLE 63s 128,000
$850 again with destination and as we can see it’s slightly cheaper than the coupe model but yeah in general we have a lot of Powertrain options with the GLE this is a top selling product for Mercedes it’s very important and that’s probably why they didn’t want to screw
It up and put that tablet in the interior so that’s good and we have a bunch of engine options we have the base GLE 350 inline 4 cylinder then we have two inline sixes 2 V8s they’re all going to be turbo they’re all going to have mild hybrid assistance they’re all going to
Be made to a 9-speed automatic and formatic all-wheel drive that’s going to be standard across the board so that’s another change that I appreciate with the 2024 glees is the fact that they made the formatic standard and regarding Which models to go with I mean that base
GLE 350 is not bad if you just want to buy into the GLE body style there’s nothing wrong with the 350 I have tried it in the past that 2 L turbo 4 it produces 2 55 horsepower 295 PB feet of torque gets 20 in the city 27 on the
Highway you do of course need to use premium fuel with all of these engines however if you can step up to the GL 450 with that inline 6 engine which makes 375 horsepower 369 lbet of torque your MPG only goes down by 1 both in the city
And the highway but you get dramatically better performance perance it’s the more luxurious experience you can easily pass people with that inline 6 and it’s a very smooth engine so that’s the model I would go with for the new plug-in hybrid and I did mention there’s two V8s and it
Makes no sense they’re still offering the GLE 580 which is a weird model it comes with that twin turbo 4 L V8 but you also have the GLE 53 with the AMG enhanced inline 6 these are two interes interesting and weird models the 53 AMG
And the 580 I haven’t tried the 580 but I have tried the GLE 53 and it is brilliant it’s a lot of fun I love the AMG enhanced inline 6 that’s cool but well equ equipped versions of either the 580 or the 53 it’s going to be close to
The six figure range but you’re still saving a decent amount compared to the fullon 63 and you’re going to be getting slightly better fuel economy as well personally I had so much fun driving the gle53 I think that’s another perfect model to go with if you want a more
Spicy version I would get it over the GLE 580 and even the GLE 63 because again it’s a ton of fun it has character and it gets better fuel economy than both of those V8 options while coming in at a reasonable price for what this Mercedes product is so those are my
Recommendations if you simply want to buy into the GLE body style get the 350 nothing wrong with that but I would really urge you to step it up to the 450 models either the inline 6 or the plug-in hybrid and then I would step up
