1st Proper Indian EV – 2024 Tata Punch Electric | First Look

1st Proper Indian EV – 2024 Tata Punch Electric | First Look

Tata Punch has finally got a punch, because it’s all-electric now and it has nothing to do with the ICE version, the petrol version, except for the design. There have been a few changes in the design as well, there have been changes in many other places as well, So, what are those changes?

We are going to talk about all of them in this video. Namaskar viewers, my name is Vikas Yogi, You are watching ICN Studio and here is everything that you need to know about The Tata Punch EV. So the first thing first, the platform,

If you are thinking that it shares platform from Punch EV, then no, this is a completely new all-electric platform. Like Active EV or Active EV, whatever you want to call it, that is what they have said, By the way, Tata Motors is at the top position in the EV segment,

They dominate the market with a huge margin. But till now, they were only making hybrid platforms or they were making the ICE EV with batteries, but with this one, they have made an all-electric platform. i.e. when we go inside, I’ll show you that the floorboard has become completely flat,

Because of this, you get options for space and flexibility. By flexibility, I mean that this car is smaller than 4 meters, it is around 3.8 meters or 3.9 meters, but by extending the same platform, They can make a car up to 4.5 meters long. That means Harrier EV,

If they want to make it all electric, they have the platform ready. We are seeing its small version here, we will see its big versions in the coming cars. One more interesting thing with this platform, If they want to make a front -wheel drive car, they can make it,

If they want to make a rear -wheel drive car, they can make it, and they can make an all-wheel drive car as well, But now, of course, they have kept it front-wheel drive. Now coming back to the Punch EV, if you leave aside the design,

I.e. there is one thing in the design, the car looks a little raised. However, they have kept the ground clearance exactly the same, 190mm ground clearance is still there. Its wheelbase is exactly the same as that of Punch Petrol. So, if you look at it from the side,

Or from the back, or from the front, they have changed a few things, especially in the front. But, if you look at the silhouette, you won’t feel that this is a different car. It’s Punch EV, the only mark is this. .EV, which you will get to see from the outside.

If you talk about the tyres, they are 16 inches. 195/60 R16 is their profile. They have changed a lot in the front, which you can see, they have given you LED DRLs. They have given you LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, and they have also given you cornering lamps.

So, as soon as your tyres turn, The tyre is turned towards the left, So, the fog lamp gets lit up, i.e. the cornering lamp is working like this. Now, if we will turn to the right, then you will see here, this is lit up. So, it’s kind of useful.

There is a 360-degree camera inclusion, i.e. there is a camera in the front, a camera in the side, and a camera in the rear. The 360-degree camera has been given to you, I will show you how it looks from the inside. At the front, you also see one change,

That is, this charging port has been given to you at the front for more convenience. And to open this, you have a dedicated button, I will just go inside and open it. After opening it, you have… So, you have a regular charger, you have a fast charger, that means it supports both,

By the way, this is the long range version. Now, let’s talk about that. You have a standard range version, It has a range of 315 km according to the MIDC cycle or ARAI cycle, And the long-range is claimed to have a range of 421 km. But, of course, realistically, those things change.

These are standard conditions, tested range, which is what they tell you. If you buy the standard version, then you’ll get a 3.3 kW charger with the standard version. If you charge with that, Then it will take you about 9.5 hours to charge the standard one, 10% to 100%.

And if you include the initial 10%, then it will take you about 11.5 hours. If you buy its long-range version, then you have two options: you can buy 3.3 kW or with some additional money, You can take a 7.2 kW wall-mount AC fast charger. If you charge the long range with that,

Then it’ll take you about 13.5 hours to charge it, 10% to 100%. i.e. it will take you about 14.5 to 15 hours. But my suggestion is that in the long-range, You should at least take the 7.2 kW charger, Which will give you a charging time of about 5 hours.

If you charge with the DC fast charger, then it will take you 56 minutes to charge the long-range and 56 minutes to charge the extended range as well. Why is that? If you charge with the DC fast charger, then, of course, your cells get heated up a bit,

Then their normal levelling and cell balancing take a lot of time. So initially, 80% of the time, both of them will get charged at the same time. But later on, it takes a little more time to fully charge them. So if they are saying 56 minutes,

Then it will take you about 1.5 hours to fully charge them, even with the DC fast charger. Alright, now we have gotten inside. And after coming inside, if you talk about the design language, i.e. the colour combination especially. You get the colour combinations that you get in Tata Punch.

This is a light colour. Then here, there is a wooden finish, but of course, it’s fake. The change is this 10.25 inch screen. This is completely new. Which we have seen in Nexon. You get the same. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also, the steering wheel,

You get the same steering wheel as in Nexon. This panel, as I said earlier, you get a screen guard. Otherwise, you’ll end up with scratches on it. The instrument cluster is also new. Which we are seeing in their new cars. It’s all digital. And it’s a good size as well.

You get multiple information here. Which is standard. It shows you the range. e.g. it shows the range of 335 km. It actually shows you the range here as well. But these trip and MID things are here. For example, trip A and trip B. If you want to reset, you can do that.

It also shows you the mode. For example, this is in city mode. It shows you the ODO reading. You also get a digital speedometer here. All of that is being given. In fact, it shows you the battery percentage as well. It’s showing 88% here. It also shows you the re-gen level.

If you want to change the region level, you press this. These pedal shifters are like general cars. And these are used for re-gen in electric cars. If you pay attention here, It’s increasing. I can decrease it from here. Re-gen level 2, Re-gen level 1.

If you want to turn it off completely, you can do that as well. And because it’s at re-gen level 3, i.e. if you want to drive on a single pedal, That means as soon as you remove your foot from the accelerator, your car starts braking.

So, they have tried to mimic the engine braking. One more thing that they have taken from the newer cars, is this touch panel. By the way, there are only 2 buttons here. To control the temperature and the blower speed. But apart from that,

Everything, even the hazard lamp, is included in a touch panel. I don’t know if it works for everybody or not. If you want to turn on the fog lamp, if you tap here, the fog lamp will turn on and off. So, for everything, you get a touch panel.

You also get a wireless charger here. Then you get this knob here. By rotating it, you select the different gears. If you want to reverse, you have to press the brake. You can reverse like this. You can come to neutral like this. You can come to drive mode like this.

But it can also stuck sometimes. Let me show you a clip. What’s the problem? The problem is, as you can see, it’s in the neutral. And this is a dial selector, like you select a gear. I’m trying to put it in D. It’s not working in D. I’m putting it in neutral.

It’s not working. I have pressed my feet completely. Usually, you have to do it. You have to press this. I have pressed it. After that, nothing happens. It gets stuck. There is only one way to solve this. Its troubleshoot. Turn off the car again. *Take out the key fob* Alright.

Park brake is applied. — I will open the door. *Lights on* *Please check* I will lock the car once. I will unlock the car again. I will start the car again. *Without helmet on scooter* And now, Let’s do it. The parking brake is already applied. Now it works.

Then if you will see this, you have got an electronic parking brake. You have got auto hold. You have got electronic parking brake. Because it’s EV. So, they have definitely tried to give a lot of novelty here. And my favourite feature, auto -dimming IRVM is given to you.

And your favourite feature, sunroof is given to you. Of course, you don’t expect a panoramic sunroof in such a small car. But, it opens like this and with this colour, It brightens up the cabin even more. One more thing that has been changed is the upholstery. The upholstery has been completely changed.

The seat has been made leatherette. You get fabric seats in the regular punch. It’s a combination of leatherette plus fabric. Like, the ball strap has been given in the fabric, and leatherette in the middle, of course. These holes are given for the ventilated seats. How will the ventilated seats be switched on?

It’ll be given in the manner of every typical Tata car. If you switch it on, your ventilated seats will be switched on or off. I have switched off the car because I have to do a range test as well. But, from here, the driver and the co-driver both get ventilated seats.

Let me adjust the seat in my own way. By the way, you have been given levers to adjust the height and all. And, I think it has been adjusted according to me. And, I’m about 5’6″. Now, I’ll go to the back and show you. If a person is sitting as tall as me,

Can a tall person sit in the rear? Or will a person like me be able to sit? You can see that. And, you can gauge it yourself. If a tall person is 6’0″, will he be able to sit like me? Now, you can gauge. So, yeah, that’s that. Look at the headroom.

According to my height, if you sit a little wider, then the knee room will be a little cramped. According to me, the headroom is this much. On the back side, there’s one more thing to show you. And, that thing is that rear AC vents have not been given to you.

Yes, if you want to keep something, you can keep the phone. But, what will you do? There is nothing to charge here. I thought there was something here. It is coming out like this. What is the logic behind this? Why is it there? Alright, so, the final thing is pricing.

How much money will you have to pay to buy this? It starts from 11 lakhs, 10.99 lakhs to be precise. And, it goes up to 14.5 lakhs. Then, if you want an additional 7.2 kilowatt AC charger, Then You’ll have to buy it separately with the standard as well.

And, you can see the pricing with different charger here on the screen. But when will deliveries start? They have chosen an auspicious day for the deliveries. Ram Lalla is being established in Ayodhya. They have chosen that day. The delivery will start from 22nd January. So, if you have booked, you will get it.

Rest, the positioning, as per this price, It has been positioned just in the middle of the Tiago EV and Nexon EV And, the good thing is that Where Tiago EV and Nexon EV are made by installing batteries in their ICE models This is an all-electric vehicle. It is built on an all-electric platform.

So, would you pick this over the Nexon or the Tiago EV? Do let me know in the comment section. I hope you liked the video. If you liked the video, then don’t forget to like and share it. I don’t know if this is an Akasa aeroplane or not. But, the thing is,
