Through the Ford Connected Cloud Service, Ford Power-Up Software Updates are delivered directly to your vehicle via the onboard modem or Wi-Fi. These automatic updates are defaulted to on when your vehicle is delivered, and this is the fastest, easiest way to complete installations. Some updates will happen in the background while you’re driving.
Some will require you to agree to the update and press OK to proceed. To be sure your vehicle is always up to date and that updates happen automatically, you should set a recurring schedule. Then the updates will occur when you don’t need to be driving, like overnight or when you’re asleep.
Press the control button, then go to Software Updates. Press Recurring Update Schedule and choose your preferred days and times. Non-drivable updates require that your vehicle be parked with the ignition off. If your vehicle is being driven when a non-driveable update is scheduled, the system will not update and the installation will be postponed.
For both driveable and non-driveable installations, when you restart your vehicle after a successful update, you’ll see a message on the screen telling you the update was successful, and you can press the Details button for more information. If an update is not installed successfully, you’ll see this message: Vehicle Not Updated. Ford will
Make a new update available as soon as possible. System updates can also be taken care of at your Ford dealership, but keeping the default Automatic Updates switch to On and setting a recurring schedule is the easiest, fastest way to help ensure a seamless experience.
