The 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale Veloce Is An Italian Take On A Turbo Plug-In Hybrid SUV

The 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale Veloce Is An Italian Take On A Turbo Plug-In Hybrid SUV

When I think of an Alpha Romeo iconic high performance Vehicles like the 4C and Julia quadrifolio quickly come to mind now like so many other brands Alfa Romeo is planning to go fully electric by the year 2027 and for 2024 we are seeing a new entry from Alpha Romeo that

Dips the Brand’s toes into the electrification space with the first ever alfha Romeo tonali now here in America the tonali slots below the stelvio in the lineup and it is only offered as a plug-in hybrid SUV Alpha’s first ever plug-in hybrid SUV which means we have a 15.5 kwh battery pack

Along with a 1.3 l turbo engine delivering up to 33 mies of electric only range and up to 285 horsepower so if you guys have been looking for a small electrified SUV with a plug but she wants something with a little bit more Italian flare how does the brand

New 2024 Alfa Romeo tonali Stack Up stay tuned to find Out now before we start talking about the exterior styling of this baby Alpha SUV let me go ahead and pop the hood and show you guys what’s powering this thing now like I said Alpha only offers the tonali as a plug-in hybrid here in the US and in the class of subcompact luxur

SUVs this is the only plug-in hybrid in the segment now underneath This Hood you’re going to find an engine that is transversely mounted the first ever transversely mounted engine I believe here in the US for Alfa Romeo and that’s because this car shares a platform with a Jeep Compass not necessarily A best

Place the best place to start but we’ll keep an open mind now here in the US you have a combination of a 1.3 l gasoline turbocharged single overhead cam four-cylinder paired up with an electric motor powering the rear axle giving this vehicle electronic all-wheel drive now like I said um electronic all-wheel

Drive that 15.5 Kow battery pack it’s good for up to 33 Mi of electric only range and when you have the gas engine delivering 180 horsepower and the electric motor offering ring 121 horsepower Alpha says you get a combined total of 285 horsepower and 347 PB feet

Of torque now those are pretty good numbers actually it’s the most standard power in the segment more power than the BMW the Mercedes and the Audi and the Lexus uh which is great of course because alphao is known as a Performance Brand all that power goes through a six-speed as derived automatic

Transmission so it’s got a really great smooth stepped automatic transmission uh and uh with 285 horsepower Alpha says you should get to 60 in around 5.7 seconds we’ve got our testing equipment we’ll see what we can get now that we have the vehicle back home it’ll reach a

Top speed of around 128 mph and this vehicle is an SUV it’ll still tow a maximum of 2,000 lbs and because it’s a plug-in hybrid only it is heavier than most of the competition as this vehicle sits it weighs in at just over 4,100 lb

But let’s go ahead and close up the hood which this exterior color is very appropriate given this is vehicle is a plug-in hybrid this is called Verde vanio it’s a $2,200 upcharge it’s exclusive to the Alpha Romeo you cannot get this color on the Dodge equivalent

But I have to say the tonali looks instantly recognizable as an Alpha Romeo thanks to of course the signature Tri Shield triangular Grill now it does have some gloss black in the actual Grill coloring if you guys go for a TI trim this will actually be silver the Sprint

Has kind of like non- glossy trim you can see the headlights they are standard full LEDs these are the trobo LED daytime running lights with the triple LEDs you have led daytime running lights and turn signals LED low and high beams no fog lights but you can see there are

Some functional Grill openings here some integrated parking sensors and my tester also has the surround you camera system so again it’s got most of the tech features that you’re looking for but moving around the side profile because this vehicle is a small subcompact SUV it slots below the stal on the lineup it

Is definitely smaller than you expected it to be now it does look bigger when you’re in person but at 178.6 in long this is around 8 in shorter I believe than the stal however compared to a BMW X1 an Audi Q3 Mercedes-Benz gla or Lexus

Ux this the V or the tonali is a little bit larger a couple inches larger its wheelbase is just shy of 104 in long and you can see U my tester has a $2,200 upcharge for these graphite gray finish Grigio five hole wheels these are a beautiful looking wheel I also love how

The volce trim comes with the red painted calipers here it’s a four piston upgraded brakes you can also see the volce badging there uh and then the wheel Arch trim as you can see here is a gloss gray painted uh area which is it looks good with the Verde exterior color

Alpha says you have around 6.1 in of ground clearance and this vehicle comes standard with a four-wheel independent suspension along with Coney adaptive dampers so the V trim is the one you’re going to want if you want the Adaptive dampers now looking at the mirrors you can see it’s got an integrated turn

Signal the Italian flag is also kind of nicely integrated into that actual uh mirror which is nice it also has power folding mirrors the vce also comes standard with a panoramic style sunroof it’s kind of like a one and a half sunroof you can see all the black trim

Here is kind of uh looking good with the gray as or with the green as opposed to Silver trim or chrome trim and then from the side profile this is where the tanali can kind of look like an ordinary SUV uh because of its profile but then

Looking at the rear here you can see uh some of you again may think this is a Dodge Hornet or if you see the alpha first you’ll instantly recognize it as an alpha I do like how the taill lights kind of have that three-dimensional look this reminds me of like the Lexus LC

Which is kind of interesting you can see it’s got a full length LED tail light bar along with the tonal script over here it’s got a rear window wiper an integrated spoiler and then down here you can see the vce includes a dual Outlet exhaust system which uh shows off

The sporty intentions of the tonali which is nice now over here this is where you charge the vehicle uh you can see the vehicle comes standard with a j1772 plug it’s not it doesn’t have any CCS charging and it’s Alpha hasn’t announced I believe if they’re going to

Switch to the Tesla plug but you can see it’s got an onboard 7.2 kwh charger which means on a level two 48 amps you can charge this vehicle up and as little as 2 and 1/2 hours to give you the 33 Mi of electric only range in terms of the

Cargo area this is where the tali’s bigger size also gives it slightly more cargo space in its competitors at just under 23 cubic feet of space is certainly usable although it’s not the tallest space area now L underneath here you can see there is some underfloor

Storage for a fix a flat kit an air compressor uh and the mobile charger which is nice uh and then if you fold down the back seats here Alpha says it’ll expand it out to just over 50 cubic feet which is again more space than what you’re going to find in the

BMW with the Mercedes uh the Audi and the Lexus so now let’s go ahead and move on to the interior of this 2024 tonal Val loce before we get inside however let me show you guys the key fob you can see this is the current Alpha fob that

We have seen on some of the other products I like how it’s a different fob versus what stellantis uses on all other products it is a big fob as well but it feels really high quality and sturdy you can see it has usual buttons for unlock lock remote start you also have your

Power liftgate and your Panic function I’m not entirely sure Alpha offers phone as a key as of this filming but I imagine that’s probably something that uh they’ll be working on in the future now you can see the door handle is traditional if you push the lock button

Here the mirrors will fold in uh it also has the usual honk to confirm that you’ve locked the vehicle if you want to unlock the door just touch the back of the door handle and that will unlock the door for you now my tester here with the Verde vanio exterior color it basically

Just has a black interior with some contrasting stitching I’m sad to say that Alpha does not offer any other interior color options besides this black um which I really think is a mistake this interior would look wonderful with a brown interior or a light gray interior especially with this

Verde exterior color you can see the seats these are combination of a vegan leather material these are also heated and ventilated so it’s the first Alpha with ventilated seats which is nice the seats themselves they adjust in 12 different ways for the driver and the front passenger and you also have three

Person memory seats which is a nice touch in terms of the door panel materials you can see this is a slightly soft touch injection molded plastic but I have to say it doesn’t feel very well padded it just feels slightly soft there’s some kind of fake aluminum look

Trim here but it also isn’t really fooling anybody it definitely feels fake when you touch it the door handle however is aluminum along with the metal speaker covers for the Harmon Cardon stereo which definitely look nice down here it’s padded you can feel that this is a vegan leather it’s covering this

Area here and then the window controls they are one touch for all four but I have to say they don’t have the same high quality look and feel that you notice in something like the Julia or the stelvio so there’s some cost cutting here some materials that I feel like

Would be more appropriate a Dodge in this vehicle versus an alpha I also see a little bit of fitment issues here along this little panel uh between the door panel of course and this little plastic piece so that’s a little disappointing but thankfully uh when you

Look at the rest of this interior here you can see you have the typical Alpha steering wheel along with some nice new tech interfaces so getting inside uh this vehicle has a little over 6 in of ground clearance so it feels like you’re stepping into a combination of an SUV

And a hatchback to be honest but as I get in sh the door the door actually has a relatively solid sounding thunk and then you can see here fully digital instrument cluster for the IP and then you have a 10.3 in U connect 5 display although I guess they call it Alpha

Connect now the start stop button is not where you’d expect it to be in an alpha I keep wanting to push this button here but this is the drive mode selector the start stop button is located right here on the steering wheel so once you push that button you can hear the vehicle

Kind of makes the alpha chime and there’s no traditional starter noise because this is a plug-in hybrid so it just kind of wors to life and it says Ready in the instrument panel to let you know that the vehicle is ready to drive now the steering wheel as you guys can

See is the typical Alpha steering wheel it’s beautiful I love the flat bottom design I love the aluminum trim I love how the steering wheel itself also has a tilt manual telescoping adjustment so you can get a comfortable driving position pretty well and then I love the big Alpha steering wheel paddles here

Those are metal they’re actually metal so love that um they’re mounted to the column this is Ferrari style and this again makes you feel like you’re driving something more special I will say that the paddles do get in the way when you’re trying to find the turn signals

Or the wiper controls but but it’s something that you kind of have to get used to the horn sounds good it actually doesn’t sound puny or pathetic like you will hear in some of these smaller SUVs and then you can see here the materials on the dash here this is a slightly

Padded soft touch injection molded plastic there’s some aluminum looking leg trim this actually lights up at night with u multiple different colors it’s got a beautiful glow to it at night it looks good uh when the the Sun goes away but over here you can see on this

Area it’s got a soft touch injection mold plastic with faux stitching piano black plastic trim the circular air vents on the side uh with a slightly different look over here you have dual zone automatic climate control which is nice your drive mode selector is here like I said earlier it’s got three modes

Advanced efficiency natural and then dynamic or dual motor uh and then you can also turn off the stability control you can also adjust the uh dampers here you can put it into a soft setting or the harder setting uh when you’re in Dynamic when you go back to normal or

Advanced efficiency it diverts to the normal setting uh for the dampers which again gives you that softer ride quality because of the Coney adaptive dampers you also see here the engine keeps turning on and off when I cycle between natural and dynamic and advanced efficiency this is the mode you’re going

To want to be in to get the pure EV only driving now over here on the gear selector you can see it’s traditional controlling the six-speed Auto it’s got a manual mode as well um or you can also access the paddle shifters if you’d like there’s also a couple of different uh

Modes here where if you click on eave this will save the charge that’s in the battery or recharge the battery if it’s totally empty with the gas engine you can also turn on and off an automatic par parking feature your parking sensors you have an electronic parking brake a

Dial there for your uh volume control and then over here you can see you connect 5 looks really nice in this vehicle it does have a little bit of an alpha graphic to it where they tried to change it out a little bit to give it

More of a different uh look because of the software changes um you can see going to the vehicle there’s also different pages here for E hybrid for performance although for some reason I couldn’t get the E hybrid to actually come up it just keeps freezing in that

Black screen and then you can also adjust a couple of different sets settings here and whatnot and the car play is what really looks the best also if you put the vehicle to reverse you can see there’s your full surround view camera system which unlike the stelvio

And Julia this actually has a decent looking resolution and quality along with trajectory parking sensors so this is a huge upgrade I was hoping they would put this in the refreshed stelvio and Julia but they didn’t um but again if you guys want that Tech the AL the tonali definitely has that little

Upgrade for you I like how these are also hard buttons for the climate controls you have two USB charging ports a c and an a wireless phone charger pad over here and then this area here I don’t love this kind of cheap feeling material again this doesn’t quite live

Up to Alpha snuff for me it feels more like a Dodge which is appropriate considering there’s a Dodge version of this car padded center console over here if you open this up you can see it’s got a relatively deep storage area the seats while they do look very very sporty I

Will say they feel too over stuffed for me I found the seats to be hard they’re not supportive you you feel like you’re sitting on the seat instead of in the seat so try the seats out themselves see if you like them the heated and cooled function works extremely well however

Which I’m really happy to see you can see also the glove compartment is huge it’s a bin style it’s not D or it’s damped but it’s lined with felt not lined with felt I’m sorry and then you can see here big panoramic style sunroof where if you open this up it’s got a

Power retractable shade this also slides open if you guys would like as well which as you can see lets in some air it doesn’t go completely into the back seat but it’s definitely a nice touch considering some competitors don’t even offer a Pano roof but overall as you can

See the interior um aside from just deer filling materials has most of the tech that you want has some good space uh in the front seat area and it also feels very driver focused especially with the steering wheel paddles and this really nice feeling steering wheel but let’s go

Ahead and hop into uh the rear of the vehicle uh and show you guys the space back here now because the tonali is a little bit bigger than its competitors you can see the back seat space is actually among the best in the class at just over 38 in you can see material

Quality backacter is hard touch plastic it’s a little bit cheaper versus the front but as I get back here you can see the space which at 5′ 7 this is where i’ have the seat to drive this is a pretty good amount of leg room there’s not a

Completely flat floor here you do have rear seat air vents two USB charging ports uh this seat does fold down obviously if you fold this down you can see there’s an armrest with two cup holders along with a little pass through here uh but compared to its competitors

The Talia has around 2 to 4 in more rear seat legro this also has more rear seat leg room compared to the stelvio which is technically their bigger more expensive car so here we are back in the allnew first ever Alpha tonali now I have to say it’s been

Almost 7 years since Alpha gave us a new product so it’s it’s been quite a long wait for the company to give us something brand new and I and this tonali is essentially going to be the first step into Alpha’s full electric future CU remember the car the car

Company is going fully electric by 2027 uh and essentially no new internal combustion vehicles are going to be introduced after the tonali so this is a small SUV designed to appeal to a different audience a younger audience and a more female audience and this vce trim that I’m driving is specked out

Exactly how I would personally get it myself in this green color uh I do wish Alpha offered more interior color options versus this black interior this would go well with a brown or a light gray or a white interior but regardless we’ve got 285 horsepower we’ve got

Almost a full charge and I want to see what this car can do 0 to 60 wise now that I have the car back in my home area as opposed to uh on a a short first drive so we have it in Dynamic mode again it’s got a full charge and we’ll

Go ahead and we’ll break torque it and we’ll see what we can Get this thing definitely feels quick off the line but you know what I got 6.1 seconds there and that’s because it was kind of spinning the tires so um I actually have the stability control turned off there uh and let’s see what we can get if uh we turn it back on on

Hopefully I can find a more drier stretch of road we’ve had like a long day of rain yesterday in this area are um but the last time I 0 to 60 tested this car in Detroit I think I got like 5.7 seconds so it kind of bogged I

Noticed a little bit the transmission bogged when it was shifting remember this has a six-speed Auto combined with a 1.3 l turbocharged 4cylinder so it’s got a lot of power 285 horsepower is certainly nothing to sneeze at uh it’s the most in its class keep in mind I

Mean you can get more uh optional horsepower from its competitors but this is the most standard horsepower in its segment and remember you kind of have to disclude or disinclude the uh Dodge Hornet cuz that’s a sister vehicle to this car but let’s not let’s not break

Torque it here let’s just floor it and see what Happens 6.38 there and that’s with it more slightly uphill so we’ll try it again up ahead see if we can get a slightly faster time the interesting thing about this powertrain is how smooth it is I mean for Alpha’s first plug-in hybrid and remember this vehicle is Under the stellantis Umbrella uh and

The last stellantis vehicle that I drove that was a plug-in hybrid was the Jeep products the Wrangler 4X the Grand Cherokee 4 bye and compared to that model this powertrain is so much smoother uh it has an electric motor that delivers 121 horsepower to just the

Rear axle and then you’ve got a front turbocharge a front mounted turbocharge engine delivering power to only the front wheels along with 180 horsepower combine it you have electronic all-wheel drive so there’s no physical connection between the the front engine or the gas engine and the rear axle the rear axle

Is powered solely by that electric motor but I have to say the combination works really well it’s very seamless it’s very smooth the 1.3 l engine also makes a decent snarl when you have it in Dynamic mode it’s trying to again uh create some kind of a synthetic sound a little bit

Along with you hear the natural noises of the pure electric motor kind of adding in its torque and the cool thing about a turbocharged electrified Powertrain is turbo engines typically have some turbo lag which this engine has but when you have the electric motors it fills in

That Gap there so you don’t feel the turbo lag you feel the instant shove of the the electric motors and then at the higher speeds the turbo engine kicks in because again it’s um it is powering the front wheels and adding that additional 180 horsepower so it’s a nice

Combination and it’s got a smooth as six-speed automatic transmission so I have no complaints I’m actually genuinely surprised at how good the power combination is in this car considering it’s Alpha’s first effort now because it is only powered by because the all drive system is only

Powered by the rear axle uh on the electric motor there is a tendency for this thing to have a little bit of torque steer I noticed um it’s not a lot of torque steer it’s just a little bit but it can you know produce a little bit

Of Torx steer because of the uh front motor having so much more power versus the electric motor and that’s a little it takes a little getting used to because this is an alfha Romeo it’s technically the Brand’s I believe the Brand’s first only first ever front drive based vehicle but let’s try it

Here really quick uh we’ll break torque it this time see if we can get a slightly better time o definitely feels quicker here 5.5 seconds there so much better time that’s a smidge quicker versus what I tested uh when I first drove this car

Out in Detroit and I have to say 5.5 is not as fast as the Dodge Hornet that I tested uh on my first drive where the Hornet again has a little bit more power and it also has that PO shot feature that um that Dodge is exclusively offering

Which you can’t get on the alpha which is surprising considering this is the more powerful option as you can see the window is starting to fog up I’ve got the air conditioning on and the defrost on so I’m not entirely sure why it continues to fog up but put my foot down

Here you can feel the shift the the six-speed Auto has really quick shifts uh I wish it had a couple more gears versus you know six gears but I like the fact that it feels very traditional I think a lot of people are going to appreciate that uh when they’re driving

Around a vehicle like this because it has that sporty feel and even though this car is built off of a Dodge KN a Dodge not a Dodge a Jeep Compass architecture which is surprising considering uh it doesn’t feel anything like the last Jeep compass that I drove which is really really

Shocking I don’t know why the windows aren’t defogging guys it’s kind of annoying the crap out of me but I’m putting it on full defroster now this is the first time this has ever happened to me uh during a drive a first or the driving portion but

Overall what I’m getting a sense of is this feels like an Alpha Romeo the steering is quick and responsive the suspension also feels nice and firm it’s got the Coney adaptive damper so I have it in stiffest setting I can also put it into a softer setting when I have it in

Dynamic mode if I choose to do so I can also switch the drive Mir to Natural which will automatically put it into its softer setting and then there’s also an advanced efficiency mode now this is the mode that you want to switch to if you

Guys plan to drive this in pure EV mode mostly now at a full charge this car is showing about 31 m of range it’s supposed to be rated at 33 in my actual testing I was only getting around 28 29 mies of pure electric only driving which

Is perfectly acceptable the car is a 15 12 gallon or 15.5 Kil hour lithium ion battery pack and if you you’re going to drive it like a hybrid in my weeks forther testing uh it was averaging around 28 MPG combined which is primarily when the battery is run down

If you have charg in the battery um I think the EP says you can do around 77 mpge which is the electric miles per gallon equivalent it’s not really it doesn’t really mean much for those of you who are used to the regular MPGs of

A gas car but um in terms of efficiency it’s not the most efficient but it does get decent efficiency something like the Lexus ux Hybrid will get about 10 MPG better but that’s only a regular hybrid it’s not a plug-in hybrid so kind of keep that in mind uh in this mode in

Advanced efficiency mode this is where you’re going to be able to get get it to drive in pure EV only um for basic Bally up to 78 mph and that’s kind of a nice little uh you know change there you actually can drive this in pure EV mode

If you guys need to which is kind of cool uh it kind of it kind of makes this car feel like a full electric car and the other thing is when it’s in this mode I also noticed that it doesn’t feel like it’s shifting even though it has a

Six-speed Auto it doesn’t feel like it’s like shifting constantly trying to um push the or put like use the gears in the sixspeed Auto when you’re driving in pure EV mode that’s something that you feel in something like the grand or the Grand Cherokee for by or the Wrangler 4

Bye it just has that smoothness that you associate it has that instant motor electric motor torque but again it only offers 121 horsepower in pure EV mode so you’re only you’re not even getting half the power it’s going to be noticeably slower in this mode unless you have it

In its hybrid mode where it’s going to give you the full fat you know 285 horsepower but overall if I had one complaint about this vehicle it’s probably the seats the seats aren’t the most comfortable I think they’re a little over stuffed and I feel like I’m

Sitting on top of them I think that other brands offer a more comfortable seat so try the seats out for yourself see if they uh work for you because for me I think the seats are too stiff and I found myself squirming a lot when I was

Actually on the road in this vehicle I just wanted it to be a little bit of a nicer seat but let’s go ahead and see what we can get here 0 to 60 wise just in pure EV mode we’ll just put our foot down again there’s a click Point past

The accelerator pedal you don’t want to go past that click point because if you do it’ll wake up the gas engine now you can see the vehicle’s accelerating slowly but it’s got a lot of torque then the gas engine’s still not on we’re going to hit 60 in 12.38 seconds so 12.4

Seconds obviously uh 5.5 when you have it in hybrid mode so there’s a reason why you want to drive it you want to drive it in hybrid mode to get the maximum acceleration obviously but for those of you who plan to just drive this in pure EV mode uh around town and for

Most of your daily commuting it’s going to have enough power for most until you need to get out on the highway that’s when you’re going to want to switch it to hybrid mode but overall I think this car is an unexpectedly good daily driver I think the powertrain refinement is

More than what I expected it to be and despite it being built off of a Jeep Compass architecture or front drive architecture this car still has the feeling of an Alpha Romeo which I really appreciate and it still feels sporty it still feels premium uh in terms of the

Chassis and the handling Dynamics even if the interior materials don’t quite live up to the same snuff as the driving Dynamics so after spending a week with the alphar roale tonali I had to say for the brand first plug-in hybrid SUV my expectations were a little bit low

Because as you guys know Alpha is a smaller brand here in the US they’re a little bit quirky they tend to have a lot of uh great strengths but they also have a lot of weirdness in their in their vehicles but the tonali definitely has the strengths that I wasn’t

Expecting it to have the plug-in hybrid powertrain is very refined really smooth it works really harmoniously together which surprised me the sixspeed auto is really smooth but it works really well as a pure EV in pure EV mode but then when you switch it over to Dynamic mode

Or normal mode it works extremely well as a hybrid and I wasn’t expecting it to have very little shutters in the gear the drive line uh to have an engine that also sounds relatively refined it actually sounds decent when you put it in Dynamic mode and as you guys saw 0 to

60 and 5 1 half seconds in Dynamic mode in hybrid mode with a full charge is plenty fast now I am sad to say that I believe this is going to be slower than the Dodge Hornet RT I’ll confirm that when I get a Dodge Hornet RT to test uh

For a full week because that model has the PO shot feature which gives you an extra 30 horsepower the alpha for some reason doesn’t have that feature but uh for those of you again who are looking for an alpha with better Tech features because it now finally has UK connect 5

It finally has Wireless Apple carplay and it also has Android auto that’s Wireless along with over the air updates it’s just a much better Software System and Tech interface versus what you find in even the refresh stelvio and Julia because Alpha did not give those models

The latest UK connect 5 software now in terms of the Interior Space the back seat is also usable for sub compact SUV this offers the most space in the luxury small SUV segment which I wasn’t expecting from alfha Romeo the cargo area is usable still small if you’re

Comparing it to M bigger crossovers but it’s very usable considering the size of this vehicle and overall the handling Dynamics also surprised me because you can’t tell this vehicle is built off of a Jeep Compass architecture it feels sporty it feels Nimble it hides its weight really well so dynamically and

Tech-wise Alpha really nailed it and in terms of the powertrain refinement Alpha really nailed it in terms of electrical range I wish it offered a little bit more versus the 28 29 I was getting in the real world but I think that should be sufficient for most people if Alpha

Made the battery pack a little bit larger you could probably you know eek out 40 miles which I think is kind of The Sweet Spot in terms of the numbers but overall if you are looking to get your hands on this vehicle the alpha is going to cost more than the competition

Because it only comes as a plug-in hybrid base pricing for the Sprint with standard all-wheel drive is around $43,000 $429.95 it’s literally the least expensive Alpha in the US by only like less than $100 compared to a base Julia most most of you however are probably

Going to go up to the ti trim for around $46,000 the vce is going to start at a little over $50,000 but with the Adaptive dampers the Brembo the upgraded um high performance brakes the uh upgraded sound system it’s certainly worth the extra charge if you guys want

The premium touches my tester however with the exterior color charge uh the technology package the driver assistance package and destination all in my tester is just under $59,000 about $ 58990 which is certainly expensive but if you option out a fully loaded Mercedes or BMW they can also be around $60,000 the

Lexus ux is also another hybrid competitor but it’s not a plug-in hybrid that’s around $10,000 less than this vehicle but it also has no electric only range and it also has around 100 less horsepower so if performance means something to you and interior space the alpha is certainly going to you know fit

That bill but just know that with because this vehicle is built in Italy it does not not qualify for the full $7,500 federal tax credit if you buy the car however if you lease the car you can take advantage of that tax credit which will in theory lower your monthly

Payment so my recommendation um look into seriously leasing this car because it should have a lower monthly payment but versus a lot of its competitors and the fact that it’s an alpha rale I’m always questioning whether or not reliability will be a good thing Alpha says they’ve really worked on improving

Quality over the last couple of years and I have to say in my weeks worth of testing with this car uh this vehicle actually didn’t give me any kind of check engine lights any problems it didn’t have any squeaks and rattles um it did have a couple of quirks where it

Would tell me the headlights were on even though the headlights were off and I’d have to kind of cycle the start stop button to make it go away but other than that little you know quibble it’s been actually a really enlightening and interesting card to have for a full week

I highly recommend it if you guys are looking for a small luxury SUV which you also can’t decide between going fully electric or uh dealing with just a gason equivalent but with all that said hope you guys have enjoyed my full overview on the brand new 2024 Alfa Romeo tonali
