I’m here with Christian Spencer with Nissan R&D and we’re taking an up close look at engineering on the 2024 Nissan zismo this time we’re talking about aerodynamics and cooling now Christian I know you spent a lot of time on the track in California Arizona these desert climates in 100 plus degree heat I’m
Sure some of those days weren’t much fun but can you tell us why that extreme heat testing is so important sure so on the track heat is the enemy of performance so getting cooling air in the right place at the right time is really key we wanted to maximize the
Performance and so we had to make some changes in order to do that it starts down with the grill mesh it’s thinner and the opening is larger that allows us to get more cold air into the engine and through the radiator we also have an additional sub radiator this effectively
Increases the cooling capacity of the engine and allows us to maximize the power output from the 3 l twin turbo V6 so I know there are a few changes on the exterior that are specifically designed to enhanced aerodynamics can you tell me about those absolutely so we made three
Major changes and that starts upfront with the front fascia has a much more aggressive profile and it has these winglets or canards on the side as well moving back we have a Nismo specific side skirt and then at the rear of the car we have a new three-piece spoiler
It’s taller it’s wider and provides functional downforce now now the net result is we actually generate negative lift or positive downforce and that really helps stick the car to the road and improve high-speed handling thanks so much for watching check out the other videos in this series to learn more
