Lectric One Review: Lectric’s Newest Ebike, That No One Saw Coming!

This is the brand new electric one I think I’m going to blow your mind with this new electric bike at least my mind was blown can’t believe it still in this comprehensive review I’m going to do a walk around talk about all the interesting components around this

Electric bike then we’ll get into some firstperson riding footage the front tire lifted up uh 12200 WTS that’s where the magic of this pinion system comes in and finally some third person riding footage where I’ll give you my concluding thoughts and some pros and cons but first let’s take a closer

Look this electric bike at its price is unlike anything you’ll find on the market I’m not exaggerating with that the electric one starts at $2,000 and then there’s VAR ious price tiers depending on the battery size electric always leads in price but probably the star of the show is the pinion gearbox

I’ll dive into that in a little bit and even beyond that it’s belt driven Electric’s first belt drive it has an insanely powerful motor as you’ll see in the first-person riding footage and even some of the other components on this electric bike surprised me I have one

Quick favor to ask you if you’re looking to pick up any electric electric bike you can support content like this for free by using our link down in the description before you make your purchase thank you so much for your support with that let’s walk through all

The components if electric is known for anything it’s ebikes with 20-in tires that’s no different on the one 20 by thinner 2.5 in chaoyang tires they have hippo skin for increased puncture resistance and you also have nice reflective sidewalls for increased visibility at night and they are a

Street tread now what those 20in tires do do is they make for a very accessible electric bike and it’s even a step through what impressed me was this bike is super Compact and as a 6 tall rider I can still get a full leg extension and

The bike feels very Nimble as well as we’d expect we have hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm rotors and this right here it is not a quick release it’s actually a through axle and the reason they have done that on some of their newer models is because that makes

Assembly really easy it’s too so this bike will arrive to you without the front wheel on but almost anyone can put it on and an added benefit of through axles is they’re more sturdy they’re more precise as well as safer the bike comes in this really nice black

Color way kind of sparkles when the Sun hits it and the front fork is a rigid front fork though we’re told you can upgrade it so let us know in the comment section if you want to see a suspension Fork on this bike there’s metal fenders

In the front and full coverage in the rear we have the four mounting points for electrics awesome accessories tons of stuff you can put on the front of this bike to make it more of a utility bike if you prefer nice cable wrapping all the way up here before we get into

The cockpit let’s turn on the bike and check this out up front they have a flashing mode you can enable that in the P settings and the advanced settings that’s great for visibility and of course if you prefer you can just leave the bike on and in the rear it flashes

As well and it is brake actuated as well so it just goes solid when you hit the brakes moving up to the stem it’s a folding stem we first saw this on the electric Expedition and it is a quick release here so you can adjust this to your preference by sliding up and

Releasing the lever I was actually pretty comfortable with it just up slightly and for compactness maybe you’re an RV you can fold the handlebars and fit it in tighter spaces all right into the cockpit this is where everything starts to come together we have grips locking ergonomic rubber

Grips on both sides the hydraulic disc brake levers complete with motor cofs a left hand thumb throttle for saw this on the X Peak and over here on the right these are going to be your shifters for the pinion gearbox get to that in a second electric has used the same

Display for quite some time now they’ve upgraded it to color has a lot of the same functionality as well as some new functions so on the top we have battery and we also have a watt output speeds front and center pedal cyst level zero all the way up to five we have the

Flashing front light on you can change that by holding the pedal assyst up button now it’s solid and yes there is a walk mode when you hold the pedal cyst down button gives you a little image of person walking the bike odometer in the bottom hitting the power button this is

The same three button control pad we’ve seen before trip range that changes depending on the pedal assist level you’re in over to voltage as well as current this is a current based system it’s their pwr system which means that you get a certain amount of amps in each pedal

Cyst level and I talked with some of the team from Electric and the troubleshooting is a little bit easier on this new display as well and for the Tinkers out there yes there are advanced settings these are the standard P settings and there is one setting here

That you can change to make this bike even more powerful talk about that in the first-person riding footage suffice to say you’ll be never needing more power on this bike new on the display is a USB port so you can charge your device there’s a crazy amount of mounting

Points three right here two at the bottom and two here so you can perhaps mount a lock or the best water bottle cage on the market check out shop. ebik escape.com can hold large water bottles next we need to talk about the pinion gearbox it is the c1.77778 is different from more than

Likely any electric bike that you’ve ridden on the market today that’s because this is only found on more expensive bikes so you can imagine my surprise seeing a pinion gearbox so this is where all the shifting happens this is not a mid drive so you can either set

It to automatic shifting or you can manually do it up at the handlebars next we have Electric’s quick release pedals first saw this on the Expedition now what’s great about these is it makes assembly nice and easy don’t need a wrench but also it’s space saving and if

You’re putting this bike on a rear rack it’s just nice to have the pedals out of the way or maybe you’re bringing it inside just help save some space the kickstand is center mounted so it will come in contact with the pedals so you need to be mindful of that let’s talk

Battery it comes with a 10 amp hour battery for $2,000 you can upgrade to the 14 amp hour battery if you want it is located behind the c tube simply turn the key and pull to remove it does does have a battery indicator at the top and

To slide it back in simply line it up on the tray and snap into place and you can charge the battery right here whether it’s on the bike or removed this is Electric’s more Sleek style if you want something more comfortable you can buy that from electric or aftermarket the

Cables run beneath the bike right here motor cable coming out between the dropouts and the rotor this is the rear rack complete with mounting points so you can put a rear basket here if you’d like hydraulic disc brake 180 mm rotor in the rear this is where the bike gets

Even better my favorite a Gates belt drive so again it looks like a single speed but that’s because all the gears are in the pinion gearbox and because it’s all internal and because you’re using a belt there’s no grease there’s no maintenance you basically can ride this electric bike for thousands of

Miles and not have to worry about any maintenance next we have this Powerhouse of a motor the rear hub motor is using their M24 stealth technology it is one of the quietest 750 W Hub Motors that I’ve ridden but it’s peing at300 WT because this is a belt driven electric

Bike you need a way to remove the belt say if you need to for maintenance and the frame actually comes apart here that’s why this looks a little bit different than you’ve seen before there’s a electric branded chain protector but I think we need to call it a belt protector instead there’s a

Closer look at the gates Drive CDX some other cool features that this bike utilizes normally we see 12 magnets on electric bikes this one has 96 so it’s very responsive it is still a Cadence Sensor but as you’ll see that allows you to travel at speeds up to 28 mph without

Providing too much effort of course if you don’t want to Electric also put some smooth welds in some places on this electric bike for a more premium look and the frame was all designed inhouse so you’re not going to find anything that looks like this bike on the market

I want to do a short Preamble because if you buy this electric bike of course using our link down in the description you’re going to want to download the pinion app and that’s really how you customize this bike it allows you to set the Cadence that you’d prefer and then

The automatic shifting just works around that of course you can change it to manual mode if you prefer and as you’ll see the bike shifts down automatically when you slow down and you can actually change the gear that it starts in there’s just tons of customization in

This bike and all that customization is made possible by the pinion gear system but it’s something that you can only understand if I ride it let’s get into some firstperson riding footage I honestly can’t wait to show you how this bike performs how it rides how the

Pinion system works let’s get into some firstperson riding footage I’m going to tell you everything you need to know and just a reminder if you are looking to pick up a electric ebike we really appreciate your support for free by using our Link in the description before

You purchase thank you so much for your support all right here we go I have the GPS speed by Cool N on my phone I have the display from Electric you might not be able to see that now this is how the bike comes shipped our first test will

Be throttle only then I’m going to turn up the throttle and get maximum power we’ll see what the 0 to 20 is that’ll be the top speed on throttle only all right here we go 32 one throttle only four five 10 miles hour GPS catching up

16117 and there’s 20 miles hour felt the motor kickoff again class three electric bike but class two in the sense that the throttle tops off at 20 GPS reading right at 19 all right so that’s stock mode and in pedal sis level five you do get more

Power in the higher pedal sis levels I’m told that can be changed though and one super interesting thing this is different from any other electric bike so even though I’m using the throttle only I can hear the pinion system changing the gears so what that means is

I can use throttle to get up to a high gear and guess what it automatically shifted me into a higher gear so I can just start pedaling and I’m already in a higher gear so the bike knows how fast I’m going even with the throttle only just so cool such a natural riding

Experience remember this is using a Cadence Sensor so as long as I’m pedaling I’m going to get power from the motor all right and next we are going to go into the P settings and I apologize for all the planes all right I turned the 11 P

Setting to zero I’m told that this will be insane amounts of power so you definitely want to be careful engaging this and I was also given the warning that you want to kind of lean over the front of your bike so you don’t fall off

All right here we go oh my the front tire lifted up uh 1,200 R watts and there’s 20 M hour all right so 1300 Watts just shy of 1300 Watts Peak okay that isn’t an unnecessary amount of power maybe if you’re climbing Hills but you need to be ready for that

Acceleration now we should also be able to get up to 28 mph that’s going to be another setting you can change in the display but let’s start in pedal sis level one and and to be honest with you I imagine a lot of people are just going

To want to use the automatic shifting you can go into manual mode but as I’ve been riding this I think I’d prefer the automatic so I’ll talk through how that works now this is using a current base system I really love that I can see the

Wattage here as well all right I got current up so I can read that on the display all right pedal sis level one and I do have the Cadence in the pinion app set to 55 which has felt really good so you of course can change that to make

Sure it’s a little bit easier for you to get started or of course you can just use a little throttle if you prefer but I prefer a little bit of a slower Cadence so nice gentle push in pedal this level one using four amps so just a

Little bit of power cruising at 8 mil hour now what will happen is if I just stop pedaling for a second you hear that click that means it shifted gears for me now that’s not going to happen unless you actually stop pedaling for a second and so it’s going to constantly try to

Keep me at that 55 now going up this hill it should make it easier if I stop pedaling for a second and there we go just a minor Hill but still could feel the shift and so you hear just like a little click it’s like a sh and that’s

The motor actually changing gears so in pedal CIS level one first gear and 55 RPM this is where i’ get a little bit of a workout using barely any battery 100 watts and going about 8 m hour all right let’s go into pedal assist level two

Feel a little bit more power there we’re using 6 and 1 12 amps and of course if I stop pedaling there’s the shift again six gears cruising at 13 mes an hour and when you’re breaking say I’m going 20 M hour as you come to a stop the motor is

Just going to shift a bunch of Gears I’m going to see if I can I want to show you this all right high speed 20 mph I’m just going to stop and that was the motor shifting in a lower gear so now when I start it’s

Going to be easier so cool all right can you tell I’m excited all right pedal assis level three going down a little bit of a hill here so it’s changing gears into a higher gear so I can still provide Pedal Power you’re not going to find anything

That compares to this at the this price point all right pedal sis level three cruising at 16 M hour 17 and there we go so of course I’m assuming I’m going a higher gear I don’t know what gear and we’re cruising at 21 milph super easy Levi said that he wanted to

Keep a Cadence Sensor on this electric bike so you can travel up to 20 M an hour without having to work out if you don’t want to and I’m just barely spinning my pedals going 23 mph Peds this level three uh using 500 watts all right let’s go into pedis level

Four I’m curious what the gearing feels like at 28 all right 24 mph GPS reading 24 all right electric display in 26 and still able to provide my own Power electric display reading 27 900 WS I believe it’s what I’m what it was showing all right and again click click

Click shifting all the way down let’s go into a pedal assist level five and again it shifted all the way down so it’s going to be you actually feel a lot of power uh in pedals this level five so something to be aware of and as I stop

It’s just going to keep shifting up getting up to speed here all right uh 25 26 electric display reading almost 28 miles hour approaching 900 watts there so this is actually what happens if you start pedaling you can see my legs so I haven’t stopped you can see I’m just

Ghost pedaling but that’s that’s cuz I haven’t stopped pedaling I haven’t given the transmission time to actually change gear so if I stop it’s going to shift me into a way higher gear there we go and I’m able to provide Power and GPS rain 26 so gearing even with the six

Gears no problem and according to that electric display we’re getting 28 mph wow this thing is so powerful it’s actually mind-blowing and I think part of that is due to the weight all right with that let’s get into some third person riding footage I can’t wait to

Tell you my concluding thoughts on the electric one no one and I mean no one could have predicted the electric one the electric team was tight lipped on what was coming so you can imagine everyone’s surprised when the CEO Levi got up in front of a bunch of us that

Are in the fun business of covering ebikes and unveiled it for the first time and Levi really held out for a long time at telling us the price let’s be honest this isn’t a Mass Appeal ebike if it comes in at $44,000 plus like you’d expect heck there are non ebikes with

Pinion gear boxes that cost more than the electric one and don’t even get me started on Stromer ebikes with a pinion gearbox the prices will shock you which is why of course the pinion gearbox didn’t seem like a budget choice at all but somehow they got this ebike to the

Magic price of $1 199.99 or $21.99 whether you select the 10.4 amp hour battery or the 14 amp hour battery respectively so yes it’s Electric’s most expensive model yet but boy does it deliver some unique features so the gearbox allows for manual or automatic shifting we’ll call it shift by wire

Which means no to worry about and by the way if your battery ever dies you’re still good for 500 shifts with the pinion gearbox and speaking of nothing to worry about it’s paired with a Gates belt drive which is one of my personal favorite features in any ebike

But then there’s a hub Drive motor which does stay true to most Electric’s lineup which allows for a great throttle experience as an aside mid Drive motors have throttles but the experience just isn’t great rounding out the ride feel on the electric one is the choice of a

Cadence Sensor which I think is a choice designed to cater to those XP 3.0 owners and others who just like to have as much power as they want at their disposal without having to put too much power in themselves but there’s more to the story with the pinion app that lets you set

Your preferred Cadence it just feels like such a premium riding experience and for me personally I’d leave it in automatic shifting so I never have to think about what gear I’m in and trust me the 1,310 10 Watt peak motor is extremely powerful maybe even too powerful when you set it for maximum

Acceleration like I did we’ll be sure to do a true Hill Climb test so be sure to subscribe the electric 1 remains accessible with its 18 1/2 in stand over height and relatively smaller frame meaning my wife and I can share this ebike which we plan to do you also get

Electric’s new display which is an improved version of the current electric displays used on all of their other models if this video or any others that we’ve done have helped you pick up electric one or maybe any of the other electric models I’d really appreciate your support by using our link down in

The description before you make your purchase it’s free and is an easy way that you can show us that you want us to continue to review ebikes I’m at a loss at how electric made the electric one happen with all of these components but I can tell you that this ebike is going

To live in my garage and be our daily so that means lots more content coming be sure you’re subscribed I want to hear what questions you have in the comment section below there’s a lot to unpack here on this ebike and I really want to help you out as always thanks for

Watching and I’ll see you in the next One
