– [Narrator] The 2024 Toyota GR Corolla versus the 2024 Honda Civic Type R. Let’s learn a bit more about these high-performance hatchbacks. Thrilling performance is standard thanks to GR Corolla’s lively engine, advanced all-wheel drive system, and performance-tuned suspension. Circuit Edition returns for 2024, bringing with it a striking new Blue Flame exterior color and enhanced styling that further emphasizes its sporty character. A long list of convenience and multimedia features

Makes GR Corolla as practical as it is fun. Now let’s put GR Corolla and Civic Type R side by side. GR Corolla is available in three grades, Core, Premium, and Circuit Edition, which bring big, fun and convenience to the table. Civic Type R on the other hand is available in one grade. GR Corolla thrills on every drive thanks to its incredible performance. This starts with a potent 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, as well as a triple exhaust system for an exhilarating sound. Paired exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission, it gives drivers full control of the engine’s power. What’s more, available front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials ensure all of that turbocharged punch makes its way to the wheels. Complementing the potent powertrain are the GR sport-tuned suspension, GR circuit-tuned steering, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 performance tires, which are designed to enhance GR Corolla’s fun factor on a winding road.

On the other hand, braking confidence is provided by 14-inch four-piston front and 11-inch two-piston disc brakes with fixed calipers, and ventilated and slotted rotors. Finally, GR Corolla’s GR-FOUR all-wheel drive system has three selectable torque distribution modes, 60/40 for everyday driving, 50/50 for balanced track performance, and 30/70 for a lively drive

With a rear-biased power split, giving the driver even more ways to maximize the fun factor. Civic Type R is powered by a two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 315 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Similar to GR Corolla, Civic Type R is available only with a six-speed manual transmission. A helical limited-slip differential,

Adaptive dampers, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S performance tires, and Brembo front brakes are all standard. While there are four selectable drive modes as well, Civic Type R is front-wheel drive only. Every GR Corolla includes a distinct front fascia with functional air vents and standard LED exterior lighting. The unique cues continue with widened fenders, hinting at GR Corolla’s performance potential. And for 2024, the Circuit Edition amps up its aggressive and eye-catching design by sporting the new Blue Flame exterior color. On top of that,

It also includes a gloss black-finished grille, a vented bulged hood, a large rear spoiler, a gloss black finished lower rear bumper, a forged carbon-fiber roof, and 18-inch BBS forged alloy wheels finished in Gloss Black. Meanwhile, the Premium grade features a gloss black-painted front grille and lower rear bumper cover.

Civic Type R also comes standard with LED exterior lighting and triple exhausts. There’s also a Gloss Black-painted wing spoiler and side sills, as well as black-painted 19-inch alloy wheels. Despite all this, Civic Type R is only offered in one configuration, no enhanced exterior design, nor are there functional styling elements

Like what’s found across the GR Corolla lineup. GR Corolla’s performance focus continues inside its cabin with standard fabric-trimmed sport seats that are designed to hold the driver securely during spirited driving. What’s more, supportive front sport seats are further enhanced by Brin Naub Suede and synthetic leather trim with silver accents on the Premium grade. Circuit Edition, on the other hand,

Further enhances this design with blue accents and an eye-catching GR shift knob with a blue stripe and stitching. There are plenty of other perks to be had too. For instance, the available heated front seats and a heated steering wheel keep occupants warm, while the standard automatic climate control system

Maintains the ideal cabin temperature. And with standard 60/40 split fold-down rear seats, and seating for five, GR Corolla is as practical as it is fun to drive. Civic Type R comes standard with high-bolstered front sport seats trimmed in suede effect fabric. However, it lacks the enhanced style of GR Corolla’s Premium grade and Circuit Edition. And while dual-zone automatic climate control is standard, Civic Type R isn’t offered with heated front seats or a heated steering wheel.

60/40 split fold-down rear seats are standard, but Civic Type R’s seating capacity is limited to four. GR Corolla comes standard with the Toyota Audio Multimedia system. Featuring an eight-inch touchscreen, this interface includes standard wireless compatibility for Apple CarPlay, which connects drivers to the apps on their iPhone, including maps, messages, podcasts, and music subscriptions. In addition, wireless Android Auto compatibility makes it easy to stay connected to Android devices

And access various apps and services from Google including YouTube Music and Google Maps. Plus, there’s a standard 3-month SiriusXM trial subscription that includes over 165 channels available in-cabin and even more on the SiriusXM mobile app, making it easier than ever to enjoy not just ad-free music, but also sports, comedy, and more.

Select grades also include trials for Toyota’s line of Connected Services, including Safety Connect and Service Connect. Every grade comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital Multi-Information Display, putting essential information in the driver’s sight lines. GR Corolla can also be equipped with an 8-speaker JBL Premium Audio system with subwoofer and amplifier,

And Qi-compatible wireless charging. Civic Type R uses Honda’s latest multimedia interface, which includes a nine-inch touchscreen with wireless compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additional standard equipment includes a 10.2-inch Driver Information Interface Screen, a Bose Premium Audio system, and Qi-compatible wireless charging. GR Corolla comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 system. This includes Pre-Collison System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and Road Sign Assist. Additionally, every grade comes standard with Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert,

While available Front and Rear Parking Sensors, which are new for 2024, provide added convenience when parking in tight spaces. Civic Type R includes the Honda Sensing suite, which includes features that are similar to Toyota Safety Sense. The Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Monitor is standard as well. Every new GR Corolla comes with ToyotaCare, which includes two years or 25,000 miles of scheduled maintenance whichever comes first, and two years unlimited mileage 24-hour roadside assistance. GR Corolla also includes a complimentary one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association and one free High Performance Driving Experience.

Every new Civic Type R includes Honda Service Pass, which provides 2 years or 24,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, whichever comes first. With its rally-inspired performance wrapped in a practical hatchback body style, there’s no denying GR Corolla’s appeal as a thrilling sports car built to handle it all.
