I’m Julie I’m HR business partner at Toyota financial services and I’m also a single mom to Tobias who is 11 so when I first became a single mom my son was about 14 months old I was actually told that I would be better off not working it was really important for me to keep in the workplace for my confidence and my self worth but what does come with it is loneliness
Tiredness you’re battling with the expectations that people have of you versus your aspirations you lose yourself a little bit you’re caring for a child and you’re trying to make your career work so you don’t have a lot of time for yourself I’ve been here nearly 5 years
I’m a lot happier and I think that is because with TFS and the people I work with we’re really honest and we respect each other you might assume Julie’s a single mom she won’t be able to go away for a week because she has to look after
Her child but I can I am the owner of My Success everything I’ve put myself forward for my managers have encouraged me they’ve given me the feedback and the support to go for things and reach my potential I would hate that a woman would never second guess themselves and
Not put themselves forward for something because a man is going to get it over them we might go and have maternity leave but we’re still ready to come back and we’re still ready to be promoted that’s our aspiration please don’t think or expect that we want anything less than That
