Velotric Discover 2 e-bike review: Torque sensor, waterproof & MORE!
It’s back one of the best commuter electric bikes on the market just got a whole lot better hey everyone M here with electric and today we’re reviewing the veletri discovered 2 electric bike come along with us while we check it out having already tested the veletri
Discover one in the past as well as a number of other impressive veletri ebikes I knew going into this review that velick is the Real Deal Building bikes that are not just a sticker on an imported catalog bike but instead are purposely designed and built by veletri
But even so I was still taken a back at how much veletri managed to deliver with this new model let’s do a quick run through of the specs so then we can get to the features afterwards okay starting with the motor in the back we’ve got a true 750 W
Continuous rated motor that means the peak power is even higher to the tune of 1100 Watts it’s a proprietary drive system made by veletri not some off-the-shelf part on everyone else’s bike and it enables the Discover to to easily hit 28 mph on class 3 mode though
You can also limit the bike to class 2 or even class one mode if you’d like that motor even has 75 newm of torque which is basically a measure of how strong the motor turns and that translates into your acceleration and your hill climbing suffice it to say
That 75 new m is a lot and more than most other Brands it gets powered by that 48v 14.7 amp battery with 705 WS of capacity that’s a slight bit more than average these days not terribly more but the big differentiator here isn’t just the capacity it’s the quality of the
Battery it’s UL certified meaning it both meets UL requirements and is actually tested by underwriter Laboratories so it shows up in their UL listed batteries database that battery is also ipx7 rated which means it’s so watertight that you can actually submerge it in water the whole bike is
Ipx 6 rated too so you can power wash it and of course you can ride it through the rain without any worries of water damaging it oh and it’s a pretty long range battery too up to 60 M on pedal assist which means we’re at the pedal
Assist part of this review and yes there is a throttle it’s a left side paddle throttle but the pedal assist is worth talking about because they spec the bike with a torque sensor for the most natural feeling pedal assist if you’re a pedal and not just a throttle Rider
You’re going to love how comfortable it feels and there are even 15 levels of pedal assist including the standard 1 through five as the normal levels we’re used to but also three profiles of Eco Trail and boost for varying levels of power and responsiveness between the 15
Levels of pedal assist and the eight physical gears from the Shimano shifter if you can’t find the right combination here then it probably doesn’t exist I’ve never seen this much Precision before in petsis level okay now let’s talk features first of all the bike has built-in Apple fine my
Meaning if you’ve got an iPhone you can track your bike just like an air tag you’ll never again wonder where the bike is or have that sinking feeling of being unable to find it if it’s ever stolen next the bike is way overbuilt and I’m not just talking about Good Parts like
The front through axle for robustness I’m talking a weight capacity of 44 40 lb or 200 kilos and being tested to ISO 4210 but exceeding those tests by 150% which is essentially a torture test of the bike and in addition to the battery being UL listed the entire
Bike’s electronics are also UL listed next talk about that suspension there’s 80 mm of real hydraulic suspension up front compared to most commuter ebikes that either don’t have any suspension at all or use a cheap Springer Fork there’s no suspension in the rear which would have been nice but it’s super rare on
Commuter bikes but that seat tube is quite low so you likely have room to add a suspension seat post if you wanted without making the seat super high or you can just drop that seat down real low as well when you add in the rest of the features like the highquality
Hydraulic disc brakes on 180 mm rotors the front and rear LED lights with integrated turn signals and the included fenders and rear rack set up for a pile of accessories it really checks all of my commuter boxes but even more than that the bike just feels like a great
Ride that torque sensor makes it great for pedaling the throttle makes it great for when you’re tired and the bike rolls really nicely on those 27.5 X 2.4 in Tires Plus that suspension soaks up the bumps and I think the bike even looks great bellrick is known for being brave
With color options so you can really find one to suit your personality at a quite reasonable price of $1,699 plus with $60 off if you use the code in the description below this video the Discover 2 definitely offers a lot of bang for your buck with a well-built
Powerful ebike that being said of course no ebike is perfect here too there are downsides first the bike is quite heavy at 63 lbs Parts like that big battery big motor suspension rack and all the other bits and pieces all add up and they add the poundage as a commuter bike
That is definitely not a featherweight by any stretch of the imagination if you you don’t need to lift the bike upstairs or into a vehicle though you’ll likely be able to ignore the weight most of the time since you don’t really feel it when you’re riding the bike just lifting it
So while there are a few downsides here I would say that there are major upsides too fetrick works with hundreds of local bike shops to maintain a large dealer Network so there’s a decent chance you can actually find one locally to test and you get that rugged design and
Construction that should last longer than most other similarly priced bikes so at the end of the day even if no bike is perfect the velick Discover 2 gets pretty darn close in my book and is certainly enough to get two happy thumbs up from me it’s a blast to ride and
Gives you more features than nearly anything else in its class what’s not to like about that thanks for watching everyone we hope you enjoyed that review of The V trick discover 2 if you did why don’t you give this video a thumbs up and don’t forget to subscribe so you won’t
Miss any of our future electric vehicle videos we’ll see you here next time n
The Velotric Discover 2 ($1,699) is setting a new gold standard for commuter electric bikes with a combination of impressive features, great color options, incredible waterproofing, and that awesome torque sensor!
