Prius Prime’s two-liter plug-in hybrid electric powertrain elevates performance above the standard Prius Hybrid EV. The sleek, eye-catching exterior design makes Prius Prime a head-turner. Every Prius Prime comes standard

With Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 for enhanced peace of mind. Now, let’s put Prius Prime and Niro Plug-In Hybrid side by side. Prius Prime plug-in hybrid electric vehicle is available in three sport-oriented grades: SE, XSE, and XSE Premium. Niro Plug-In Hybrid is offered in two grades: EX and SX Touring. Prius Prime is powered by the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System. This plug-in hybrid electric powertrain includes the larger two-liter engine that helps Prius Prime generate 220 net combined horsepower. As a result, it can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in as little as 6.6 seconds.

Additionally, a high-capacity battery means the Prius Prime has an EPA-estimated EV range of 44 miles on its SE grade. And with up to an EPA-estimated 127 MPGe combined, Prius Prime is also efficient when operating as a Hybrid EV. Niro Plug-In Hybrid uses a 1.6-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid system

With only 180 net combined horsepower. Similar to Prius Prime, Niro Plug-In Hybrid uses a high-capacity battery. Niro Plug-In Hybrid has an EPA-estimated driving range of 33 miles in EV-only mode and an EPA-estimated 108 MPGe combined rating. Prius Prime’s aerodynamic exterior stands out with its standard LED exterior lighting and functional components like an active grille shutter. XSE and XSE Premium’s 19-inch alloy wheels further enhance Prius Prime’s presence. The range-topping XSE Premium grade adds even more convenience with its power liftback. Finally, an available fixed glass roof

Lets more natural light into the cabin for an open and airy feel. Niro Plug-In Hybrid also comes with LED exterior lighting but only on the SX Touring grade. This is the case with the available 18-inch alloy wheels, Smart Power Tailgate, and sunroof. Prius Prime’s interior stands out thanks to its many comfort and convenience features. Its top-mounted Multi-Information Display with indicators and a seven-inch LCD screen is just the start. There are also six USB-C charge ports, a heated steering wheel that’s standard on all grades, and an XSE trim that adds heated front seats.

Higher grades can be equipped with ventilated front seats and heated outboard rear seats, further enhancing cabin comfort. Niro Plug-In Hybrid features a smaller 4.3-inch Instrument Display and limits itself to five USB ports. Both grades can be equipped with a heated steering wheel. Prius Prime features an eight-inch or an available 12.3-inch touchscreen. And access various apps and services from Google, including YouTube Music, and Google Maps. Plus, there’s a standard 3-month SiriusXM trial subscription that includes over 165 channels available in-cabin and even more on the SiriusXM mobile app, making it easier than ever to enjoy not just ad-free music, but also sports, comedy, and more.

Prius Prime can also be equipped with an eight-speaker JBL Premium Audio system and a slotted Qi-compatible wireless charging. Trials for Toyota’s Connected Services are also included on most grades, including Drive Connect which features Intelligent Assistant, Cloud Navigation, and Destination Assist. Higher grades can be equipped with the Digital Key,

Which requires an active Remote Connect trial or subscription, giving owners more ways to access and share the vehicle with approved drivers. Niro Plug-In Hybrid comes standard with a 10.25-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are standard but require plugging into a USB port. A seven-speaker Harman Kardon Premium Audio system

Is standard on SX Touring. Both grades also include standard Qi-compatible wireless charging, while Digital Key is available on the SX Touring. This active safety suite includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. That’s not all, as Prius Prime brings enhanced convenience

With Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Front Cross-Traffic Alert, and Lane Change Assist, all of which are standard on all grades. Traffic Jam Assist is also included as standard. It requires an active Drive Connect trial or subscription. And for added convenience, the available Panoramic View Monitor,

As well as Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking, makes it even easier to maneuver through tight spaces. On the other hand, all of Niro’s models include Kia’s Drive Wise suite, which has features similar to the ones on Toyota Safety Sense. Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist,

And Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control are standard on both grades. Park Distance Warning Rear is standard on all grades, while Park Distance Warning Front is limited to SX Touring. But there’s no answer to Prius Prime’s Panoramic View Monitor. Prius Prime received the 2023 Top Safety Pick Plus award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Every new Prius Prime comes with ToyotaCare, which includes two years or 25,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, whichever comes first, and three years, unlimited mileage 24-hour roadside assistance.
