2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450e: LUXURY plug-in hybrid with lots of range!
Hey guys it’s Connie welcome back please don’t forget to subscribe we have a plug-in hybrid from Mercedes-Benz today this is the first time in North America for the plug-in hybrid on the JY this is the emerald green color and I absolutely love it but it looks black in most
Lights as you can tell it looks black but it is emerald green we have the uh gorgeous 21in wheels on here we have a lot of add-ons this is the Pinnacle trim there’s a whole bunch of different GL so starts at the 350 then there’s the 450
Those are both gas and then we have this plug-in hybrid and then we go up to the 580 and then the amgs so there’s a lot to choose from in the GL lineup and it gets a refresh for 2024 so there’s some subtle differences on the exterior
Design but honestly if I see a GLE on the road I’m not noticing a whole ton of major changes for the 2024 we have a really nice size uh trunk space all three of the rear seats fold down individually and we have a nice privacy shade as well it uh this is a
Nice little case for your plug-in cord to charge overnight and I have been overnight at home and not only can you plug in at home this also has DC fast charging capability so you can go to a fast charge and uh charge it up rather quickly versus at home but honestly plug
In hybrid plug in at home overnight and you’ll get your full electric range every day I think 77 km is amazing um You probably wouldn’t even have to use gas during the week unless you have an extra long commute and then you still have the whole gas tank to take you away
For the weekends and not worry about charging okay we have a beautiful driver area here of course we’re seeing the new Mercedes-Benz steering wheel the new mercedesbenz the new mercedesbenz screen this is all similar to the GLS and the E-class uh we’ve seen all of this before
But uh let’s talk about it so we have all haptic on the steering wheel here but with these haptic buttons you can customize the screens you can adjust your volume you set your adaptive cruise control all right here on the steering wheel it’s really beautiful um this
Gloss black does get Dusty I always have a microfiber cloth in the car with me now for cars like this um and then you can adjust this is a phev which means we can adjust our um regenerative braking with the paddle shifters and you will see it automatically started in electric
Mode we only have 13 km in pure e left because I’ve been driving this a lot today but as I said we’ve been plugging in at home now one of the things I love and I hope you can zoom in on this is that whenever you’re and any car has this
This little arrow beside the gas pump here means that the gas tank uh door the fuel door is on the right side of the vehicle so I know where to pull in the gas station so that I can put gas in on the right side of the vehicle but I’m
Starting to notice this some plug-in hybrids and I love it they’re doing it with the battery too so over here it’s telling me the charge port door is on the left side of the car so charge port on the left gas gas tank door on the
Right love that um and then of course this screen you can see that I have 12 km in range left it is currently an electric mode and then let’s change it into so I love Mercedes-Benz still kept the dynamic button here which means uh Drive modes for Mercedes and I’m going
To just tap that and it’s going to show me my drive modes and my phev modes so battery hold hybrid is the uh default I believe so it starts in hybrid and then sorry electric is the default and then battery hold means that uh Monday morning when I
Return this I’m going to have a full charge I’m going to put it in battery hold mode and it’s going to keep the battery full for me while I drive to drop this off then of course we have Sport and individual mode and of course
If we go into sport mode it’s going to start the um the gas engine so there we go with that and then we have a beautiful clean center console here this is the wood option option uh I believe the base trim gets just gloss black but I love this wood option it’s beautiful
Then we have a wireless charging pad in here and two USBC Chargers plus a climate controlled cup holder where you can cool your drink or heat your drink and I think that is super luxurious I love that um and again with the wood trim here the leather stitching all the
Way around the hard touch climate it’s gorgeous and then of course we have wireless carplay it’s been awesome some very very uh very responsive and and then we have all of our usual settings for mercedesbenz like things like we can have massage seats we can change the
Uh ambulant lighting right now we have it set to Venice pink uh we can adjust our seat settings um automatic seat positioning that’s a very luxurious feature in Merced some Mercedes models where I will put in my height and it will automatically position the seat to
My height very very cool this also has the it also has the sorry I’m looking for it has the um incar perfume so it has a scent in here this little jar I don’t know if I can pull it out yes I can Forest mood and I did notice this
Car has a distinctly out dorsy smell and I love it um you can adjust the strength of that and then new for the GL I believe it’s new for the GL is this off-road mode so we’ve got our all our engine data it’s got a um what do you call it when it’s
Telling you the grade of the car right you’re on right now um we’re on a negative 6% grade uh super cool I don’t know if you’re going to take your $100,000 plug-in hybrid Mercedes-Benz off-road but there you go um and then of course we have our
Hybrid settings so it’s going to tell us exactly where we’re at we’re now down to 12 kilm is 16% we can set up our charging we can see our energy flow and uh yeah really cool settings here in the mercedesbenz settings and then we just tap quickly to go back to
Carplay okay all right so the base trims of the GL don’t get leather interior it’s called mbte I believe the surfaces but this is leather and it’s an option this interior is called macchiato beige we have uh two cup holders in the center armrest we do have heated seats back
Here and a really beautiful wood and leather combination with this stitching it looks amazing of course the burmaster sound system is amazing I have tons of leg room I I am 5’1 this is in my driving position but lots of room and then Vents and two USBC Chargers I adore
The panoramic sunroof as well it is fantastic and these seats of course are really comfortable all right let’s go for a drive this is a 2 L turbo inline 4 cylinder plus one electric motor for the plug-in hybrid and makes 381 horsepower 479 lb feet of torque combined it uh is
A 9-speed automatic transmission it can tow up to 7700 lb super luxurious ride it is smooth it is quiet it is comfortable heated and ventilated seats massaging seats ambient lighting what more could you want this ride is super Lux wow we get soft closed doors on here
As well I love the luxury of the GLE and this 450e in the Pinnacle trim with the options we have it is super luxurious it’s also great to drive and it’s really beautiful it has a lot of tech inside we also get new pedestrian and cyclist detection for
2024 this is a luxury price tag however so starts at around 90,000 Canadian Dollars around $70,000 us but this pinle trim with the options you see the leather macchiato the emerald green those beautiful whe deals this one tops out just under $103,000 Canadian dollar and around
