China’s Tesla Killer: BYD Is TAKING OVER the Electric Car Market
BYD started out in 1995, not as a car company, but as a battery maker for cell phones. Imagine that! They were all about affordable batteries, which got them into the big leagues with companies like Motorola and Nokia.
Now, fast forward a bit, and BYD thinks, “Why not cars?” So, they jump into the auto business by buying a car company and pushing out their first car in 2005. At first, their cars were pretty basic and not too exciting. But everyone starts somewhere, right?
Over the years, BYD kept at it, making better cars and then diving into electric vehicles with their first fully electric model, the e6, in 2010. Electric taxis liked them because of sweet government incentives, but everyday folks? Not so much. The turning point came around 2019 when BYD started rolling out cars that actually turned heads – thanks to some top-notch German design.
Could Tesla close its doors? Should people really trust a Chinese company like BYD? If you thought Chinese EVs were harmless, you’re gonna want to hear what I’m about to reveal!
