    > *In Rivian’s latest shareholder letter—and first spotted by BloombergNEF’s* [*Corey Cantor on Threads today*](https://www.threads.net/@corey_cantor/post/C8p08ScxT9p)*—we see an image with several possible new Rivian models under a sheet that we hadn’t seen before today. On the left side, we see the first generation of Rivian EVs: the original R1S, R1T and the vans used by Amazon. Then we have the second generation R1 vehicles, which InsideEVs drove recently. But there’s another vehicle underneath a sheet above those; is it the R1X? The real mysteries can be found in the subsequent columns, with SUV-like shapes that seem separate from even the* *R2* *and* [*R3*](https://insideevs.com/reviews/721298/rivian-r3-everything-we-know-design-range-features/) *revealed earlier this year.*

It appears Rivian has a third Gen2 (Large) offering incoming, and a third MSP (Midsize) offering, as well as three new “Affordable Mass Market” offerings with a different electrical architecture. I wonder if any of these could be coming from the Volkswagen deal at all.

I really wish they would change up their aesthetics. The lack of variation makes their offerings seem rather bland in my opinion, much like Tesla.

Only the van is really different. If they made a hatchback with the aesthetics of the van it would essentially be a Honda E – which would be awesome.

A minivan or wagon would be an excellent and critical change for Rivian to challenge Tesla and expand their market.

A two-door Wrangler or Bronco-size vehicle would make for an interesting prospective.

I could see this as being a good move, but I think I’m leaning towards they’re entering the ‘bit off more than they can chew’ territory. Like they got to be more focused on the immediate 2 year future and getting the already announced vehicles out and profitable before putting basically any effort into anything hidden behind a curtain in this graphic.

I’m looking forward to seeing Rivian be around for the long haul, and hope that they’ll eventually make their way to a RHD config and sold in NZ.

However, it’s interesting seeing this subs reaction to this from Rivian vs basically the same from Tesla the other week.
