1957 Wartburg 313, the East German answer to the 300 SL, except unlike the 300 SL, it’s a 3 cylinder, 2 stroke 50 hp car with a FWD layout.

  1. That’s both ugly and cool at the same time. I want one.

Engine looks a hell of a lot like my 1964 Saab 850 Sport had

There are few cars that I can lord my 65 Opel Kadett’s engine over, but this is one.

    That engine bay is confusing.

    It’s a water-cooled 2-stroke? Eh, ok.

Do we put the radiator in front of the engine? No, we’ll pre-heat the air before it reaches the radiator, cause we put on the firewall side. Then we’ll run a shaft driven from a v-belt on the accessory side mounted right on top of the head to run a cooling fan on the backside of the engine.

Truly all of the Eastern Bloc cars were designed with the instructions: make a car that looks like it would compete with this nice Western car, but it needs to cost 1/10th the price to build and it can’t have more than 75 horsepower. Despite only using old, outdated parts, only the VIPs in our countries will be able to afford one, but they’ll have to order it 8 years in advance.

It looks like someone sent a Karmann Gia to a douchey private school.

A closer analogue is surely the VW Karmann Ghia?

    Yet another garbage Communist imitation
