So, maybe a dumb question as I’m not very knowledgeable on painting cars, but did you strip all the paint off first before repainting, or if you somehow (unfortunately) get a chip or dent, would it show all the layers underneath like a cursed Jawbreaker?

I’ve seen chargers that were a rusty body and no engine or trans go for way more than $800 these days. She’s a beauty

That’s amazing! It sounds like you got a great deal on your 68 Charger, and it’s awesome that it was your first car. Do you still have it?

Cool! Red and black is the color of my dad’s 69… I think he bought in 1970. Still have my 69 I bought in 1980 .. both are 318 cars, although mines a bit hotter than stock.

Keep it! Drive and enjoy it!

Damn, 4 paint jobs in 20yrs!! Although I get you, cars were wayyyy cheaper in the 90s/ early 2000s.

Keep it red with the black vinyl top. It looks awesome, although plum crazy was also a good look for it

Sweet, man. I had an 81 z28 as my first car in high school and wish I wouldn’t have sold it. Sold it for much cheaper than I should have

This dude changes the color of his car more often then he changes his tires!

Not even once painted like the General Lee? Fail! J/k.

I think it looks awesome and the 408 is a stroker?

Did you start with a 383 and stroke it or something else?

This is bad ass. I have a similar situation with my ’66 Mustang fastback. I bought it as a pretty nice driver in the 90’s for $5,500. No way I could afford to get one now in today’s market, but I still have it and drive it every chance I get. Never selling.

Damn, 2003 was more than 20 years ago. Time is a cruel mistress

I love the purple. It’s unique. The green too.

Now you can’t get a parts car for less than 5k

Brother! Bought my ’70 in 2002-2003 for $1300.

The plum was the original? So the front bumper was body color & you went chrome the most recent? Looks way better imo. $800 is great, in around 2006-7 basket cases of those were going for 50k
