The Trek Marlin+ 8 is one of the more affordable eMTBs we’ve tested. Thanks to a Bosch Active Line Plus motor, the Marlin+ 8 rides like a more expensive eMTB. The Active Line Plus motor produces 250W nominally, peaks at 600W and offers 50Nm of torque.
The Trek Marlin+ 8 is spec’d with the sorts of parts you’d expect to see on a pricier eMTB. It comes with 4-piston Shimano hydraulic disc brakes with 203mm rotors as well as a 12-speed Shimano Deore drivetrain.
Because mountain biking is a dynamic activity that forces the rider to move around a lot, a good fit is important and Trek makes the Marlin+ 8 in five sizes to fit most people.
The Rock Shox suspension fork gives riders 120mm of bump-absorbing travel—enough for real off-road riding. And to make descending as much fun as climbing, they spec’d a TransX dropper post.
In all, it’s an efficient e-bike with great handling and comes at an impressive price point considering how good the components are
