Hagerty invited me to race a Dodge Demon 170 Challenger from the Radford Racing School against an electric Lucid Sapphire: the two quickest production cars in America!
We raced on a no prep surface at Willow Springs and then travelled to Famoso Drag Strip in Bakersfield to race on a prepped surface. You can see the results in the video!
Both are very impressive cars. The Lucid is obviously quick (even quicker than the Tesla Plaid) and your granny could cut low nine second runs without a problem. It’s a really well built American car and I enjoyed talking with their engineers about how the tech works. The Dodge Demon 170 on the other hand is raw and you need the conditions and driver to both be on point to get the max out of it. I personally think that’s more satisfying! Even if you have a Hellcat Charger or one of the other high performance Dodge products you know they can be so much fun.
