Is the 2025 KIA EV6 GT the FUTURE of Electric Cars? FIRST LOOK
2025 Kia EV6 Review: Pushing The Envelope Further
Kia’s groundbreaking EV6 gets a significant update for 2025, cementing its position as a frontrunner in the electric crossover segment. With improved range, faster charging, and a host of new features, the refreshed EV6 aims to build on the success of its predecessor.
More Power, More Range
The headline news for the 2025 EV6 is its larger 84.0kWh battery pack, up from the previous 77.4kWh unit. This bump in capacity translates to an impressive maximum range of 361 miles for the entry-level ‘Air’ and ‘GT-Line’ RWD models – a notable improvement over the outgoing version.
Even the range-topping ‘GT-Line S’ AWD variant can now travel up to 324 miles on a single charge, addressing one of the few criticisms of the original EV6. Power outputs remain unchanged, with RWD models producing 225bhp and AWD versions delivering a punchy 320bhp.
Lightning-Fast Charging
Kia has also enhanced the EV6’s already impressive charging capabilities. The new model boasts a peak charging rate of 258kW, allowing for a 10-80% charge in just 18 minutes when connected to a suitably powerful DC fast charger. This puts the EV6 at the forefront of real-world usability for long-distance EV travel.
Familiar Yet Refined Styling
While the overall design remains largely unchanged, keen eyes will spot subtle refinements to the EV6’s sleek exterior. The ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’ trims continue to offer a sportier aesthetic, with the latter now featuring 20-inch alloy wheels as standard.
Tech-Packed Interior
Inside, the EV6 retains its futuristic dual 12.3-inch curved display setup. The ‘GT-Line S’ trim level ups the ante with a customizable head-up display, Meridian premium sound system, and advanced driver assistance features like Highway Driving Assist 2.0.
Pricing and Trim Levels
The 2025 EV6 lineup starts at £45,575 for the ‘Air’ RWD model, with the mid-range ‘GT-Line’ priced from £48,575 (RWD) or £52,075 (AWD). The range-topping ‘GT-Line S’ commands £53,675 for the RWD version and £57,175 for the AWD variant.
The Verdict
With its extended range, faster charging, and refined feature set, the 2025 Kia EV6 builds upon an already impressive package. While the price has crept up slightly, the improvements help justify the increase and keep the EV6 competitive in an increasingly crowded segment.
The combination of striking design, cutting-edge technology, and now even more usable range makes the updated EV6 a compelling option for those looking to make the switch to electric. Kia continues to demonstrate why it’s considered a leader in the EV space, and the 2025 EV6 is set to win over even more converts when it hits UK roads in Q3 2024.
