If this was a Tesla, this thread would have had 200 comments by now.

    what really is happening here?

sure, making EV is a different game than making ICE, but these recalls arent unique to EVs.

VW really dropping the ball. Trinity factory cancellation, this, etc…

they have decent line up of EVs and cars so I hope they can come back strong.

So it would seem that now is not the time to buy an ID.4? Because my wife and I test drove one last month and generally liked it. It was high up on the list.

  4. Looks like it’s just temporary until they can figure out a redesign for the door handles. The recall is from an issue with the door handles allowing water to ingress into the door and short out a circuit board and potentially opening the door at random while driving.

I love my VW ID.4 and haven’t had really any issues with it. It is concerning to wait several months for a software fix and the door handles though. I want this car to succeed and EVs to do well in general but VW (and the rest of the car makers) really should’ve done more due diligence about the charging infrastructure, software, and parts pipeline because that’s what’s f*cking people over. People want to buy them and they can’t even do that.

I was thinking to buy a Ford Explorer BEV, they use the same platform ad ID4. Is this problem common with both cars?

I have never, ever understood why it makes such a difference for aero if the door handles are flush. Electronic door releases are just another thing to break, or in this instance, be poorly engineered.

Man I love my ID.4; I do see the recall on the app (only thing the app is good for honestly) and its still not ready. Hopefully nothing bad happens in the interim.

I really wanted to put this car on my consideration list since it seems they significantly improved it, but the lack of paddle shifters is a deal breaker to me. I use the ones on my PHEV all the time when I drive it and so I’ll probably be looking at an EV6 or something else.

I refuse to buy a VW ever since dieselgate

VW does not make a car I would buy. Obviously.
A door handle recall ? Suspicious. It’s gotta be a deception. It’s something else.
European cars are to be avoided.

I guess the word “Pauses” or “Temporarily Halts” are too much for the headline…

ID.4 inventory is currently unavailable. Please contact your local Volkswagen dealer for additional information.

To the person that chose VW over GM, I said they couldn’t be trusted due to diesel falsehoods. Your retort that emissions didn’t matter to EV. I told you so, it speaks to character.
