We had a ’74 and a ’79. The metal is not as good on the 79 because of Ford buying cheap steel processed on Japanese ships(seriously). It showed rust early on while the 74 never did. Also, fitment wasn’t as good on the 79 because of being the last year of that model on the assembly line. The 79 was still a good truck.
