Wheres the hhr to compete with the pt cruiser?? Picked up a 5spd hhr back in 2019 for whopping 1300 for my aunt. Clean with 127k on it.

My uncle has a pt cruiser and it hasn’t ran for years just sayin
Flat_Cress3856
The PT was built for five years plus longer than the others (as picture) and is somewhat more likely to have been babied by someone enamored of the style. Holding my nose but the Chrysler gets the nod.

Give me the escort. My dad had one and it ran forever.
EinsteinRidesShotgun
Cavalier obviously but good luck finding anything that even rolls for $1000 these days
Big-Perrito
A base model Cavalier with the 2.2L is a good bet, but stay away from the Quad-Cam Z24 models. Despite being the higher trim level, they were utter shit.
Professional-Ear242
Escort for sure.
CodenameJinn
The escort is technically a Mazda, but I’ll take it. Hada 97 back in high school and it was a blast!!
paintedwoodpile
Escort. There is a guy who used to fix and flip them a couple miles from my place. He probably has all the parts I would need.

The cavalier, then escort.
The Cavalier interior will disintigrate when you sneeze after it’s 5 years old, and the engine will run like shit, but it will run like shit forever and tolerate levels of neglect on pare with children of Appalachian meth addicts.
The escort will run forever also, and the interior will hold up better, but they do need their timing belts done, and oil changed more frequently to get that longevity.
The PT Cruiser will evoke the same sense of regret as buying a 40 year old mobile home with an adjustable rate mortgage.

Say what you want about cavaliers, but the 2 I had were very reliable

Cavalier. It will last you through the next economic collapse.
If you kill a Cavalier, you messed up somewhere along the line.

Gimme that cavalier.

PT because it’s styles after the cars from the time when America Was Great 🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🗽

We had a mid 90s escort wagon as a family car. It could make eyes bleed but dammit, that thing would not die. Gotta go for the repeat.
HistoricalAnxiety858
Cavalier, these used to be one of THE default beaters in the early 2010s (along with the Corolla and civic)
New-Jeweler5480
Cavalier. I’ve had six of them. Various stages of redneck ingenuity.
kunzinator
The Cavalier for sure, I still see those on the road more by far. We’ll I do see a few PTs too but I would rather off myself than own one, should have made it a Neon as those were similar powertrain as Pt but the same style of car as the others and not the blasphemy against body design that is the PT.
Pup111290
The Cavalier no contest. You couldn’t pay me to buy another Escort and I’ve never heard good things about PTs
Corninator
The Cavalier i had ran forever for me with no issues and is still running today with a new owner. So that one, preferably with a stick shift. Mine was so fun to drive.

PT!
Educational_Friend42
I’ll take the PT Cruiser. My first car was a 2007 Touring model, I didn’t have any major problems with it despite the general consensus of its reliability. I owned it for 4 years and only repairs besides basic maintenance were a fuel pump replacement, all 4 brake pads/rotors and spark plug wires. For the 2500 bucks I paid for it back in 2016 with 116,000 miles, it was worth it to me. Only sold it because I could not afford to keep it when I moved away.

PT tbh. Probably the most reliable of all of them
Anteater_Reasonable
I’d go with the Escort, or the Mercury Tracer variant that was nearly identical but more likely to have been owned by an old person who took care of it.

Cavalier. A Civic will run forever, but a Cavalier will run like shit forever.

Escort. Wife had a cavalier while we were dating, 3 years, and I endlessly worked on it. We got married and it was gone in 2 weeks for a Ford.
Successfully got her to switch to a Ford after being raised nothing but Chevrolet her whole life. We’ve been a nothing but Ford family ever since.
