They took a Legacy, turned it into an Outback (I’m assuming same platform), then turned it back into a sedan? What would be the purpose of having a Legacy and an Outback sedan?

Apparently when they were sold new, nobody knew they existed since they were all parked outback of an Outback that was just outback of the dealership.
