if they designed the cars as if they’re of a higher class as MB is known for then they would sell like HOTCAKES but instead they designed the cars to appear as if they’re of low class simplicity. Why would MB do something like this. What were your reactions after hearing that MB were gonna do an EV then seeing this thing

The lease deals on them are pretty insane. I’d seriously consider the EQE/EQS now that they fixed the annoying design where the brake pedal pushed back if the car was regen braking. I found that to be borderline dangerous on the EQS sedan I rented.

  3. KapinKrunch

If they had brought the EQA to North America maybe they’d be selling. The EQB is awful and the EQE and EQS are absurdly expensive even for Mercedes when Lucid and BMW are offering similar products for cheaper on leases.

  4. ItsMeSlinky

The EQS is a foot longer than the Lucid Air, yet has less interior cabin space, less legroom in the back seat, and less storage with zero frunk.

It’s an engineering joke from a company once legendary for its engineering.

    Edit: Also, less range.

  5. lostinheadguy

BMW got it right. Electric versions of their existing ICE vehicles. Mercedes lost this battle.

  6. LoPanDidNothingWrong

They are mediocre to shit in execution. Their styling looks plasticky and unattractive.

This has everything to do with bad product.

  7. Metsican

Obviously. Mercedes’ EV offerings either look weird, have whack specs, or both. The EQS looks like a bar of soap from the outside and a tacky nightclub inside. If they built better products, they’d sell more.

  8. runnyyolkpigeon

Piano-black plastic laden interiors and weird soap-bar-shaped sheet metal tend to do that.

  9. autobahn

    look, they’re fucking hideously ugly.

mercedes people want mercedes cars. not weird junebug wind tunnel cars with a dance club inside

  10. CoolRecording5262

They are just too expensive. I currently drive a mercedes, but wouldn’t buy one of the outrageously priced EVs even though I’d like one just fine.

  11. DTBlayde

I like the maxed out EQS a lot. Just not for the price tag. I’d get it half off used if anything

  12. Dino7813

Look, if you can stomach the styling, inside and out, the things used are probably the best bang for you buck in an EV. They really are good cars, nice features, long range.

  13. Mercedes clearly fucked up by making the egg shaped EQE/EQS first because from the looks of these comments, nobody knows the EQA/EQB exists

  14. Kind-of-broken

Not true! i’m mildly obsessed with the 2024 Esprinter! Mercedes just needs to cram 40 more KW in there, deploy V2L, make it an AWD, and reduce the price to $70,000

    Any day now…

Design and fashion matter, and the Mercedes EQs are badly off-trend. They look melted and sad. BMW continues to have a design edge, same with Porsche EVs, Lucid the Hyundai/Kias, even the Cadillacs (Celestiq aside). If I could dream of owning a vehicle in that class these would be last on my list. And I grew up drooling over SLs and 500s. Even got to drive the SUV model at CES and it was fine, but they were promoting some obscure audio feature designed by Will-I-Am (no joke) instead of at least trying to convince me the actual vehicle was cool. They have lost the script IMO. Also had the good fortune to test drive a Lucid Air Sapphire and it was literally the nicest car I have ever driven, ever.

My mom bought the plug in GLC- fully paid for it new, at 9,200 miles (she doesnt drive much) the magic check engine light came on- we brought it into dealer and they told us that it needed $7K worth of repairs 🤡. We traded it for a GV60- she love it! Even the not fully EVs are trash.

  17. ancientromanempire

Did no one working at the company let anyone know that the glass grill looks really ugly?

  18. Chiaseedmess

They’re very nice, but no one wants an expensive sedan.

  19. IHate2ChooseUserName

I don’t mind if I can buy a brand new one for 35k

  20. GenesisNemesis17

Personally I find the interiors to be unbearable. The screen that goes completely across the whole dash. No thanks.

  21. phicks_law

I saw a used 2023 EQS SUV 580 4matic with 20,000 miles for $67k where I live in socal at a reputable dealership. That is almost $80k less than MSRP, great deal, but that reduction in value is insane.

That comment down the bottom from some ill-informed person about theree being no EV infrastructure. I mean what? Is that turkey still hanging around.? Yes, for certain sections of the buying public, EV infrastructure is thin. I mean those who don’t have easy access to cheap, day to day charging. That has to be solved, and it should be easy. You have local residential chargers that are only activated by a card that is tied to your home electricity account. And maybe the charge could be 1 to 2 cents/pence/whatever your currency equivelent per kWh, just to keep the chargers well maintained. It’s doable and relativelt easy. Why is it not done? Because local councils are playing at being committed to electrification. Especially as, in the UK for example, there is an existing government grant for just this thing.

  23. Novel_Reaction_7236

I want one, just not willing to spend $106K for one.

  24. YukonDude64

They’re UGLY. How could M-B possibly think their customers would accept this?

  25. Leather_Inflation401

It’s such an ugly car. Kinda like a Honda Fit, but bad.

  26. -boosted

It’s so unattractive, seriously why can’t they make a sleek looking Mercedes that happens to be electric lol

  27. Prestigious_Yak_9004

Reminds me of other cars I had fold myself up like a pretzel to get in and out. I’m way to tall for rooflines like this.

  28. Dry_Okra_4839

Mercedes should just resurrect and electrify the W123 and W126. They would sell like hot cakes.

  29. LoneWitie

If they weren’t god awful ugly they’d sell better. Design matters.

  30. BecomingJudasnMyMind

    If I’m buying a Mercedes, it’s gonna be a Mercedes-AMG GT/SLS/CLS.

Because i absolutely love the gas powered machine they’re putting into it, I’m not gonna buy an EV from them.

I say this as someone that has and is in love with his lightning.

  31. GrrrArrgh

For some reason the charging stations in LA were filled with them the last time I was there. I think the appeal must be interior comfort because they’re not attractive from the outside.

  32. Accomplished-One5703

It may be bad for Mercedes but it was good for me, as we snatched a 580 EQS SUV at an incredible price and my wife says it is by far the best car she ever owned and she doesn’t want to let me have it in exchange for my BMW iX. Of course, I did drive it a few times and I think it is one of the best luxurious vehicles out there, super comfortable and quiet, plenty of power. Sure, not the highest performance possible, but more performance can be nauseating and jerk people’s necks. I know because I have to be gentle with the pedal in my iX.
So haters can be haters, the rest of us will have a very nice car for a more decent price than the msrp.
