    >Tesla CEO Elon Musk presented the highly anticipated Cybercab self-driving taxi, which would enter the market in 2027 with a price tag claimed to be below **30,000 USD**.

    LOL

  2. I think the fact that it has 5 seats is more important than it having 5 lidars.

Did they make lidar work in the rain?

  4. Why does the number of lidar sensors matter? Also the price is the same as the rumors Tesla price. Which may or may not happen but the headline is weird.

I watched the event and it was a waste of time and I don’t have much confidence on Elon’s words.

With that being said, this sub has a hard on for shitting on Tesla, and I feel like ya’ll would gladly see Tesla fail even if it meant them taking EVs as a whole down with them.

“It’s not only operating in China. Baidu also plans to launch this service outside China.” So they are only operating in China then.

It’s a quite bad paid article.

LiDAR has limitation identifying objects that only cameras can solve.
Future is camera based with AI, LiDars are from the past.

    But lidars suck /s

Elon has tiny amount of credibility left at this point.

The interesting part is that china can get around the 100 percent tariff by brining in self driving . Even if the car cost 25k x 2 to import … those costs do r mean much as a robotaxi

I’m still interested in where Waymo goes from where it is today. Does it remain a niche or does it scale up?

For US, biggest issue is regulation and lawsuits. In China, those legal uncertainties is very small as long as CCP behind you. But in US, it is just too high and too uncertain. US has lost its adventure spirit.
