For some of the Americans here who don’t recognise that many faces from European politics, the woman on the left is Giorgia Meloni, post-fascist prime minister from Italy. The man on the right is Karl Nehammer, Chancellor of my home country, Austria. His political views are quite similar to Meloni’s, albeit a bit more moderate.
The picture was taken about one week ago during an informal meeting, after which Nehammer referred to Meloni as a “friend”.
