AUSTIN, Texas — The UT Austin football game Saturday brought challenges due to heat with a 2:30 p.m. kickoff time.
Austin-Travis County EMS stated that they transported a total of 13 patients from the football game to local hospitals for a variety of complaints. Three of those patients reportedly had complaints that could potentially be heat related.
ATCEMS noted that they had other symptoms that couldn’t rule out other medical causes.

Officials stated that August and September are the hottest parts of the year, every year.
They urged anyone planning to spend an extended period of time in the heat to pre-hydrate before going outdoors, hydrate frequently while in the heat, dress in light colored, loose fitting clothing, and wear a hat and sunscreen, take breaks in the shade or AC, and limit strenuous activities outdoors to the early mornings or later in the evenings.
