The 2023 Nissan Ariya is the electric car that could put the Japanese brand on the EV map. Now, that’s a little cheeky to say because a Nissan model, the Leaf small hatchback, held the title of ‘world’s best-selling electric car’ long before EV specialist Tesla even sniffed it.
Either way, the Ariya is an on-trend mid-size SUV that goes head-to-head with the all-conquering Tesla Model Y – 2023’s best-selling electric car, of course. Needless to say, expectations are high for the all-new model, which ushers in a new era for Nissan.
So, in this expert review, CarsGuide Senior Journalist Richard Berry takes an early look at the Ariya and tests it on Australian soil – but not roads – ahead of its official local launch, to find out if it will be worth waiting for.
