2024 Honda CR-V vs Toyota RAV4 Review – BEST SELLERS!
I’m Jacob I’m Yuri and we’re going for a [Applause] Drive 2024 Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid Woodland Edition 2024 Honda CRV hybrid and we’re comparing the best-selling SUVs everybody wants fuel economy these days saving some money so we got these both in hybrid trims let’s get to the fuel economy this Toyota is rated at a combined 6 L
Per 100 km and that Honda is rated at a combined 6.4 L per 100 km and we reset them both at the beginning of the day not doing any highway I’m getting 8.8 L per 100 km in the Honda and I’m getting 8.3 L per 100 km in the Toyota slightly
Edging out that CRV according to the data which is also accurate now let’s get to the horsepower and torque this Toyota has a combined 219 horsepower and 2 21 lbet of torque from a 2.5 L 4 cylinder hybrid and that Honda has a combined 204 horsepower 247 lb feet of
Torque from a 2 L 4-cylinder hybrid all right put it in your sportiest mode I’m going to Sport and drive in the CRV Sport and Sport shifting oh yeah baby not only is this more fuel efficient it is even faster than that yeah really really impressive isn’t it I
Guess so I mean that is actually pretty impressive and we both have cvts and they do like to sing the song of their people yeah yeah I think we got like ecvts in both but I think the raap 4’s got a little bit more electric motor stuff either way they are not plugin
Hybrids they’re just regular hybrids so you don’t have an electric only range showing anywhere and the Toyota at least has an option to do that because the Rav 4 Prime exists but there is no plug-in Hy version of the CRV at least not yet

And with the paddles I can adjust my regen and what’s very cool is if you’re in D mode after you come to a slow speed it resets so it’s not like you’re stuck in one pedal is driving mode which is nice to have sometimes when you’re in
Your B mode in CRV in this Toyota it’s very simple there’s nothing to think about in terms of the hybrid system the car just kind of does everything on its own however I do have a EV mode button but if I’m driving the speed limit right
Now which is pretty low if I press that button I get an error because it tells me that my speed range has exceeded and that’s at the speed limit so basically if you’re driving in EV mode that is for stop and go traffic or parking lots only
Yeah yours doesn’t go over 40 km an hour and this one really goes to EV when you’re going like slow slow but you can’t control it at all and and with the EV modes I feel like we should listen to both of them from the [Applause] Outside pretty crazy interesting ghost Phantom sounds yeah I think Rav 4 is spooky and then CRV is more uh holy yes I agree with that and in terms of Drive modes I do have the Woodland Edition so I’ve got a trail mode that I can take this thing Offroad and then I’ve got
Sport normal and Eco I got snow Eco normal and Sport Eco I guess gets you into EV a little more it’s all good very easy to see and I like how it resets in Eco so with this being a woodland Edition I would like to focus on some
Looks Yuri because mine looks stunning I could take this thing out on the trails and I would fit right in with this thing army green looks is my favorite part of cars as you know and the thing I like the least about the looks of this CRV is black fraking Wheels especially compared
To that Rav 4 are you kidding me ah yeah this Woodland Edition really takes this thing up a not you don’t have to get that you can save some money because this is the lowest trim from Toyota The XLE trim that you can get the hybrid in
And that CRV is all new for this year for Canada which is the EXL trim but more importantly what tires should you put on your CRV or Rav 4 that you buy the Continental cross contact lx25 and then since it’s winter here as you can see we would love the Viking contact
Sevens up here so back to my exclusive army green paint with these lovely bronze Wheels the design of the wheels is amazing it’s kind of like a t37 is I love it yeah I think the Rav 4 looks better it’s got two-tone black roof but I mean the CRV just looks nice and
Normal really average yeah the CRV does look more luxurious from the outside like it looks like a more premium car compared to the Rav 4 who’s got the better exhaust tips uh I don’t really know so the Rav 4 has these like black finishers on top of these small little
Pipes yeah I’d rev the CRV for you but it does not rev but then the CRV has the kind of chrome exhaust finishers that go around it which almost these days look more premium they’re both kind of fake but the rap fors are slightly more real
Uh which fender flares do you like more boxy is or roundish I love the boxiness I think the body lines of the wp 4 even though it’s like an old design still looks good uh but this looks nice it’s got nicer headlights on the the CRV you’ve got like headlights that are
Always on on the Rav 4 and then nicer tail lights in the CRV as well and they are LED on the CRV which they are hogen on the Rav 4 and then piano black door handles on the Rav 4 that’s pretty nice mine are just color matched and we both
Have proximity touch just at the front and this being the Woodland Edition I also get cross barss and a roof rack up top yeah well if you’re a woodland man with your Woodland suspension tuned then uh you should have that yeah I’ve got TRD tuned suspension which honestly
Makes this less comfortable it’s a little bit stiff on the road it’s not too stiff but it is noticeable especially in comparison to that very luxurious ride in that CRV all right let’s pull over somewhere snowy and then switch cars I want to drive that RAV
Four a little bit okay Yuri let’s launch them oh okay Woodland floor mats that’s pretty nice are they nicer than the Honda CRV floor mats um yeah I mean the design is a little bit nicer but Yuri they’re really lacking coverage yeah I think they both lose compared to
A set of tuxmat and speaking of tuxmat my buddy just got a CRV so I hooking him up with a set of tux mat to replace his winter ones so he gets a lot more coverage and keeps those carpets clean for his brand new car for as long as he
Can keep it get your own set of tuxmat at tuxmat docomo you have officially been tuxed now for the least important test launch control which these don’t have but I’m going a brake boost it oh my God it is simulating those gears real quick not a bad launch at [Applause]
All Sport shifting sport mode Let’s Stay pin CVT [Applause] yeah you know what it’s always more fun doing the CVT launches in a Subaru where you see the tack stay pinned I mean that one’s doing the same thing you just don’t see the tack cuz it doesn’t have
One that’s what I’m telling you and the first thing I noticed with this is that it does have a weirder brake pedal in the ra 4 than the CRV not deal breaker but noticeably like there’s a step where you kind of to get used to it that’s
Exactly how I would word it as well in terms of power these have just over 200 horsepower completely adequate the hybrid feels like it really adds something to these cars I don’t feel like I’m lacking at all I agree but seat Comfort which one do you find more
Comfortable I actually think the seat is nicer in the Rav 4 sitting in the seat I also agree with that but these uh leather or whatever leather-like substance is in this Honda actually feel quite nice yeah it’s a little more luxurious in that than in the rap 4 I
Would actually say this Honda is a huge step up in terms of what the interior looks like the materials the finishes but this one is more expensive which we will get to at the end of the video back to the seats do you fit in all rows at
6′ one and a half because a 5’8 I’m fine in all of them I fit completely fine in all of them however I do find more space in the back of the CRV I think if you look at the trunk both have an equal
Amount of room uh the Rav 4 has a plug back there which is pretty cool and they both have power Trunks and then as for lumbar I think the lumbar is a little better in the Honda the raav 4 feels like a little more pointy into my spine
And the Honda being the more expensive car actually has memory seats on the driver’s side which the Toyota does not okay heated seats heated steering wheels which one gets hotter and which one covers more so the Honda has to have the wind for that because it actually heats
The entire steering wheel whereas the Toyota only heats the grippy parts on the left and right sides not the top and bottom and they both have heated seats and we do have manual climate control for both which is lovely in the Honda we have this tactile kind of loud sound which feels
Premium yes and in the Rav 4 we’ve got the rubbery coated ones which you can feel but you don’t hear the which I think is actually better because the Honda sounds a little plastick here it is a little plasticky but it’s also kind of nice and then we also have a volume
Knob in that same finish and then I have a home and a back button as well yes this is where we talk about the infotainments and the rav 41 is not as good it doesn’t have the update yet that the Corolla cross had so when you’re in
Apple carplay which is wired or Wireless you need to scroll through to click your Toyota button to get back where the Honda has that home button on the left the whole time and a bunch of good shortcuts at the bottom when the home button is up for your fm and Sirus XM
And all that kind of stuff and the Honda also has wired and wireless Android auto and apple carplay and then sound systems I think the Honda’s a clear winner here yeah that Toyota is very tiny sounding I would say up there with the worst sounds
I’ve ever heard from a car you you know these sound systems are going to be rough when the logo of the car is on the speaker covers yeah I would say that and speaking of logos of the car to go back to looks both of these have blue
In the logos because electricity oh wow so creative from both companies all right and now to something that grinds my gears the Honda CRV has remote start on the key fob that trim does not have access to an app to control it I like that this Toyota can also remote start
The car by clicking the lock button three times and holding it on the key fob but you need to have the paid subscription stuff to have that eventually that’ll run out and then you won’t be able to remote start your car from the key fob in 10 years unless
You’re paying for it y I mean these are both kind of disposable because uh I won’t go that far but at one point you will have to replace the Hybrid battery in both of these for an approximate cost of between 2,000 to potentially $8,000 that is what I found online will that
Take away from all the fuel savings over the year when you add labor to it and maybe trying to find that part and getting a rental car while it’s in the shop yes absolutely however if you pass those costs on to the next owner and you just sell this vehicle prior to the
Battery needing replacement then you’re good to go ooh sneaky sneaky okay how about moving on to gauge clusters I think it’s very cool that the Rav 4 can tell you the temperature of your engine yeah real cool yeah you can see the cooling temperature uh in the Honda
For some reason we haven’t been able to find it in this half digital gauge cluster so if you guys have one of these uh hybrid specifically and you know what your cooling temperature is let us know cuz we have literally tried every menu option we can’t find it I just want to
Know when my car is warm enough to blast the heat that’s why you use the autoclimate function you’re even let the car take care of it speaking of autoclimate function the fan does slow down when you’re on a phone call on Apple carplay which is nice and then
This CRV being so much more expensive than that Rav 4 I’ve got a wireless charger down here and then this only has usba for your Apple carplay but the CRV has usba for app carplay but USBC just for charging which is interesting and the Honda also has better cup holders I
Would say they are full pass and the Toyota they’re a little bit too deep yeah yeah a little little risky there how about the visors oh no I think this is going to be good in this one three two one ah yes Full Pass in the Honda there’s
Officially no reason to pick the Rav 4 over the CRV just kidding just kidding actually there might be because the Toyota can tow 15500 lb and this Honda only 1,000 this already has a trailer hitch on it that is literally the difference between another jet ski or
Not and then the last nice little thing we both have very clear reverse cameras which is good not last because we are driving on a somewhat of a highway not really we do have Highway assists for both of these where you have Lane centering and adaptive cruise and they
Both work really well yeah I think Honda might win by a little bit yeah I would honestly tie them and different scenarios would issue different results all right now let’s rip through cliche corner just for fun even though it doesn’t matter in these cars and figure
Out which one we like once we get to the price so rather than focusing on driving Dynamics through cliche corner I’m going to focus on ride comfort and I think I’m going to win in this Honda even though I’m not necessarily gunning for any of these cars but this is definitely the
More comfortable one yeah it’s definitely more comfortable than CRV you notice the Rav 4 suspension being a little annoying cuz it’s the Woodland but some people are woodland people that’s right if I was wearing my Lumberjack outfit I’d probably have to go with that Woodland trim but I’m not
So here I am turning into cliche corner with this lovely steering wheel R 4 seems pretty composed through here lots of junk flying around in the trunk yeah I’m not exactly pulling away from you or anything like that so I mean pretty much tied feel like I can cut to curb a
Little more with my Woodland suspension a few moments later and dropping back into cliche Corner in the opposite Vehicles going over the bump and the rav Fort yeah not a soft all right yo let’s get piped oh we’re getting piped under steer City oh yeah dude I think the the
Hot is a little bit better through here you’re flying all over the map yeah I know with my TRD tune suspension I think it’s tuned for the off-road I kind of like the sound of this Honda when you’re ripping it it’s like kind of kind of
Better than the r four I know this kind of sounds a little bit coarse than the Rav 4 if I was to floor it yeah a little CVT screamy all right I think with all that out of the way it’s time to get to the price the Toyota is
So much cheaper at $ 41,9 30 Canadian and that Honda is $47,700 CRV hybrid you can get for as little as $345 and the Rav 4 hybrid for 31725 but this review makes perfect sense cuz both of these are the cheapest trimmed hybrids you can get of these
Right that’s right so if you’re looking to save the most money but get the hybrid trim minus this Woodland Edition thing yes this is what you’d get in Canada so are there any deal breakers between the two to me the only deal breaker is thing I think is the remote
Start but besides that they’re both very nice non-plug-in hybrid SUVs I would say that’s not even a deal breaker Because by the time you get to that remote start thing being not a subscription service you already probably have to replace the Hybrid battery on this that is a good
