Review: All New Gazelle Eclipse Electric Bike

That we’ve all come to expect and know from gazelle when I went to eurobike what they were billing this bike as is their long awaited adventure bike so all of their bikes in the lineup are very they’re very classic in many ways they’re classic Dutch bikes great for
Urban Dutch riding but they never had anything that was really designed for like going out longdistance either commutes speed commutes but also just taking out on the weekends into the mountains or in the Dutch World taking it to the Alps and riding around it’s great for the weekdays but it has the
Battery capacity component spec to be able to handle really really well anything you can imagine doing on it here’s the thing about gazelle 125-year-old company which in the bike world is a very very old Bike Company what that means is that they play the long game and they’re not in a rush they
Do things right instead of doing things fast they iterate the heck out of things and then come up with something like this bike which is the bike that allows you to feel gazelle but be in a rush which is a really really nice combination this bike is so comfortable
It’s so quick and it is so confidence inspiring because of the work that they’ve put in to make it what it is the obvious standout feature on the bike is the frame it is a striking design and the execution is really topnotch the welds are smooth and Polished the paint
Job is impeccable it’s all painted in their Factory um in Daran in the Netherlands and all the little details are are taken into account as well so my favorite is the charge port right here super accessible hidden away and my favorite is the Noto little details like
The fact that this bike comes in a step through and that even in the small step through it’s a 750w battery now that is super cool the key thing on the frame you know besides the distinct design is just how solid and rigid it is and that
It has a very short chain stay so the distance from here to here is very short which just lends to its quick handling and the balance is is just right it really feels Syble on the road you can just whip the bike around and it and it’s right there the cockpit is
Distinctly gazelle you’ve got a narrower handlebar so it’s kind of matching your shoulder width it’s close so you’re sitting upright and it’s adjustable so you can find the perfect position it’s pretty fresh to be able to say that the standard Diamond frame bike is not the norm the norm like not the
Cool bike to talk about instead the step through version of this bike B with its like flipped top tube design is very cool and rides it very well and my guess is that most people are going to adore this that being said you can still also
Get it in a standard top bar variety but the benefit of this the step through is there’s no downside in terms of rigidity and performance but you can more easily carry more stuff on the back without having to worry about kicking your leg over it um and it has kind of a nice
Casual ride feeli to be able to just like jump on and off off your bike the bike is built around the new Bosch smart Speed Motor and the motor is fun you can push it easily to 27 mph and cruise home you know on your long tradeways it
Features the Bosch kiio 300 display and one cool thing is if you want to use your phone as your display you can easily swap to the Bosch smartphone grip and charge your phone while seeing turn BYT navigation and all sorts of things like that the bike is equipped with
Bluetooth so you can see all your ride information configure the bike sign it to yourself and you can add a GPS unit as well so for added security this bike can be locked down and tracked I can really see how this bike like on the Dutch super highways between cities
Bicycle super highways that is you’re just cruising on your way home and you are enjoying the heck out of it the eclipse comes in two drivetrain options so you can order it with the gates carbon belt drive enviolo shifting system enviolo is a stepless shifting system so there’s no distinct gears it’s
Got a 38% spread between the high gear and the low gear super low maintenance if you’re climbing lots of really steep hills you may want to go for the other drivetrain option which is the Shimano XT 11speed that’s a standard chain derailer it’s quick shifting it’s going
To feel more like a traditional bike the bike comes with 272 by 2.35 tires which are nice and wide there’s lots of rubber on the road the tires are made by Schwab and it’s just a great feel that is combined with air suspension Fork that will give you great
Handling at high speeds but also like on bumpy roads of one sort or another and those two features are combined with really wellb built and positive accessories I really like how sturdy the fenders are how sturdy the rack is it’s a um mik rear rack so it fits all the
Mik accessories bags baskets um you can also use standard pet um and it’s the HD variety so it can take a child seat without any problem like any good Dutch bike it comes with a built-in Cafe lock which you can combine with a chain for a really nice uh Integrated Security
System the eclipse has amazing lighting front and back I really like the rear light it’s a diffused light with side light visibility and then the front light is extremely bright the brakes on it are incredible so they Shimano four piston hydraulic disc brakes they just add to the whole overall confidence when
You’re riding this bike yeah it’s premium and it feels premium at speed which is really a nice feel Brett what sizes did this bike come in that’s a great question I’m going to go look the gazelle Eclipse low step model comes in three frame sizes 45 50 and
55 the 45 will fit ryers um down to about 5T and the 55 will fit Riders up to 65 even 66 the top bar model comes in two frame sizes so it comes in 50 and 55 all frame sizes and models are available in classic anthy gray but then for the step
Through versions the nvol version is available in this beautiful orange which totally reminds me of the International Orange of the Golden Gate Bridge and the derailer version is available in time green so the eclipse like all gazelle bikes is made in Duran in the Netherlands beautiful Factory it’s the

Can go there which is very very cool too they have a Visitor Center they have a visitor center they have a tour you can actually like walk through the line but you’re above the line and see the bikes being produced it’s worth a visit if you are in Dean Netherlands for some odd
Reason you know the Netherlands is quick you can you can cycle there probably from the from Amsterdam it’s true you know what’s so funny about this like whole Vision I have of you being put into a black box with other dealers at eurobike is that this bike bike is
So not inside the box it’s an outside the box bike it’s a fast bike that just wants to go and wants to take you places and you want to go places on it it was a big box it was not a small box thank God
It’ fit me a bunch of Dutch dealers in this bike massive whole bun massive men and some nature noises the things that gazelle believes shine through extremely bright ly on this bike they believe in quality they believe in longlasting bicycles they believe in comfort and joy while cycling
