Passing through Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago, I stopped to take a picture of this unique electric car 🚗. I wanted to get a shot of the back but then the driver pulled off and turned around quickly before I got a chance.
It’s a [Citicar](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citicar)! A 1970s attempt at an EV, powered by lead-acid batteries. It ended up being little more than a glorified golf cart. They were, apparently, [pretty awful](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilIozuRmTQs). From the look of this one, I’m guessing it’s been gussied up with some modern technology. Those green ground effect lights definitely aren’t stock.

That’s a Citicar, manufactured in Florida during the later part of the last century, per Wikipedia:
Not a particularly good performer on battery technology of the day, but the brand had a halfway decent fan base. Two and a half to three and a half horsepower(!) (1.8kW to 2.6kW) and top speeds from 25 mph (40kph) to 38 mph (61kph) and up to 40 miles (64km) range.

Good fun video on it on the Aging Wheels Youtube channel

I’ve never seen one in the wild but I remember laughing at this.
It’s kinda cool looking in general, has a vibe its own. Sure want nothing to do with it though. No space for my golf bag and pornstar I’ve never seen in my life. But I hear good things, on both sides.

Yeah, but I’d drive this.
